Chapter 1027 Are You In or Not?
Sebastian knew that ensuring Audreyâs safety was the top priority. He urged Janice to reveal who had kidnapped Audrey so they could rescue her and negotiate with the Duncans.
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Janice immediately contacted the kidnappers she had hired, but after dozens of calls went unanswered, she was terrified and sought Sebastianâs help. âUncle Sebastian, what do we do now?â
Without any contact from the kidnappers and unsure what had gone wrong, Sebastian decided to search for Audrey. If they could secure her safety, the Freesons might still have a chance.
At the abandoned construction site, the kidnappers, having checked the Swanns âlocal influence, realized Audrey was no ordinary person. This revelation made them hesitant.
Sensing their uncertainty, Audrey seized the opportunity. âYou must be aware of who I am. Iâm an actress. Negative publicity could be devastating for me. If you release me, I assure you that I wonât pursue any charges, and youâll still receive your payment.â
The kidnappers were incredulously hopeful at Audreyâs proposition, eyeing her skeptically.
Despite the situation, Audrey maintained a strong presence, showing no fear. âMy reputation is what matters to me; money is inconsequential. If negative news gets out, my losses will be far greater.â
Seeing them still hesitant, Audrey began to threaten them. âOf course, you can continue with your plan. But youâre well aware of my familyâs influence, arenât you? Like I said, if you dare hurt me, you and all your families will be in big trouble.â
At Audreyâs threat, the kidnappers were visibly shaken. They knew they stood no chance against her wealth and influence.
Despite their desperation and willingness to risk their lives, they couldnât bear the thought of endangering their families.
After a moment of hesitation, they decided to release Audrey. The leader stepped forward and cut the ropes binding her hands.
âMiss Swann, weâll do as you say, but we hope youâll keep your word.â
Audrey nodded slightly. The ordeal had changed her; she was no longer the timid heiress of the Swann family. â
What about my driver? Is he okay?â she asked.
âDonât worry; your driver is fine. Heâs knocked out and locked up in a cage at the back.â
âGood, release him and bring him to me,â Audrey ordered, then asked, â How much did the person who hired you pay?â
Her commanding presence made the kidnappers too afraid to lie. âShe paid us one million dollars to take some videos and photos of you to send to her.
Audrey raised an eyebrow at the amount. The diamond necklace she wore that evening was worth nearly as much. These kidnappers didnât know its value, kidnapping her for such a paltry sum.
After a momentâs thought, Audrey came up with a new plan. âIâll give you two million dollars to take her here.â
These men hesitated. They were kidnappers, but they still had their principles.
Audrey delivered a final blow to their doubts by saying, âYou have no other options but to work for me. Donât worry. Once this is over, not only will you get your money, but Iâll also ensure your safety. Now, I need an answer. Are you in or not?â
