Chapter 1024 Weâve Been Ambushed The sudden screeching halt threw Audrey forward uncontrollably.
Luckily, her habit of always buckling up prevented a serious injury. The seatbelt jerked her back into her seat, leaving her dazed for a few seconds before she could gather her senses.
Audrey immediately asked the driver, Brad, whatâs going on?â
Bradâs voice trembled as he replied, â Miss Swann, weâve been ambushed.â
Turning her head to look out the window, Audrey saw several masked men with baseball bats standing outside the car.
Instinctively reaching for her phone, one of the attackers smashed the windshield with his bat and threatened her with Bradâs safety.
Concerned for Bradâs safety, Audrey opened the car door. âI assume youâre here for me. Let Brad go, and Iâll come with you.â
The men didnât respond to her offer but, seeing she wasnât resisting, took both her and Brad into a van. They sped away from the underground parking lot too hastily to notice a figure in the corner witnessing the entire scene.
Pauline Stoner, an assistant of an organizer, had come down to fetch something from a car and stumbled upon the scene.
Worried for Audreyâs safety, she rushed back to find Kim. Audrey was the kindest and most respectful celebrity she had ever met. She had been made a scapegoat earlier, but Audrey refrained from blaming her and even spoke up for her. Pauline didnât want such a kind-hearted girl to get hurt.
Quickly locating Kim, Pauline, ignoring the stares of those around, grabbed him urgently. âMr. Morris, I need to speak with you.â
Kim initially wanted to ignore her, but taken aback by her strength, he found himself pulled aside. About to scold her for her lack of manners, he was instead met with her frantic words. âMr. Morris, somethingâs happened to Miss Swann.â
Sensing the genuine panic in her eyes, Kim took her aside so they wouldnât be overheard. âWhat happened to Audrey?
Pauline recounted everything she had witnessed in the underground parking lot. Kimâs expression turned grave instantly. âThank you for this. Take care of yourself and contact me if anything comes up.â He handed her his business card. âAnd, can you keep this matter confidential?â
Pauline nodded vigorously. âDonât worry. I wonât betray Miss Swann.â She understood the importance of keeping Audreyâs situation out of the public eye to avoid further trouble.
After sending Pauline on her way, Kim was frantic, not having anticipated such an incident. At his moment of desperation, he thought of Triston. Initially, he considered contacting Catherine, but realizing the sensitivity of her current situation and fearing the wrath of Branden, he quickly dismissed the idea.
Triston arrived at the venue immediately after receiving the call. With his influence, they quickly gained access to the surveillance room, only to find the footage had been tampered with and was unviewable.
Remembering the dashcam linked to his phone, Kim hurriedly opened his phone and handed it to Triston. After a glance, Triston noted down the license plate number and sent it off. The response came quickly.
âMr. Lambert, itâs a cloned vehicle. We can only confirm that they headed towards the eastern suburbs.â
Tristonâs face was stern as he issued his orders in a chilling voice. âTurn the entire city upside down to find them!â
