"I can't do this." I collapsed face first onto Toby's bed and groaned. I felt his large hand begin to rub comforting circles into my back.
"I told you, they'll love you. How could they not? You're perfect." I lifted my head to look at him.
"There's gonna be so many of them! What if I say something stupid? What if I trip in front of all of them? What if my pants fall down? What if-" my ramblings were cut off quickly by a pair of warm lips.
"Gill, everything will be fine, alright? I promise." Although I still wasn't completely sure he was right, I took a deep breath and stood from his bed.
"Let's do this then, I guess." My heart soared as I saw a loving grin stretch across my boyfriend's face.
"That's my boy." He wrapped me in a warm, comforting hug, placing feather-like kisses down my neck, making me shiver. He pulled away for a moment and pressed his pillowy lips against mine briefly.

"Holy shit, that's a lot of people." I gulped as I peaked through a tiny crack in the door.
"Like I said, they'll love you." Tobias reassured, softly brushing his fingers across my cheek. He pecked my nose and pulled away, lacing our fingers together.
"Well, here goes nothing." I breathed out as Tobias pushed the door open. Conversation ceased instantly as we came into view and everyone stood silently. I was led to a small stage, and Tobias took his place in front of a tall podium.
"Thank you all for joining this impromptu pack meeting. You may be seated." His voice echoed across the room as everyone in the crowd began sitting back down. "There are a few matters to be discussed tonight. The first being a threat against our pack," collected gasps were heard all around, and I watched as fear creeped on the faces of the crowd.
"As some of you may know, there have been some issues with hunters. Alpha will talk more about this in a moment, as well as the safety precautions we must take, but first, there is someone I would like you all to meet." Tobias turned to me and smiled warmly, squeezing my hand. "Crimson Lake Pack, I would like to introduce you all to my beautiful mate, and your future second alpha, Gill Mendoza." There was a brief moment of silence. My grip on Toby's hand tightened and I hid my face in his shoulder.
"I knew they wouldn't like me." I whispered to him, but before he could respond, loud howls and cheers burst through the room. Tobias grinned brightly at me and chuckled.
"You were saying?" I blushed and looked at the ground as everyone cheered.
"Alright, alright. Everybody calm down. My mate and I greatly appreciate your acceptance. I know having a same sex mate is a bit unusual, but this is who our Goddess paired me with, and I couldn't be more grateful." He kissed the top of my head and I blushed even brighter, smiling up at him.
"So, I will let my father take over now, but if anyone has questions or concerns, you may ask after the meeting." Paul stepped up onto the stage and shook his son's hand, giving me a smile, before standing in front of the podium. Tobias pulled me off the stage and to the side of the large room to listen to his father talk.
"As my son, and your future alpha said, there have been several sightings of hunters on our lands. Because of this, we will be taking extra safety precautions until the situation is under control. No one will be alone at any time. The elderly, the children, the ill and injured, and the few humans we have in this pack must be accompanied by at least one wolf from our pack at all times. Unless you are assigned to nightly patrols, or are cleared by me, or your future alphas, everyone must be indoors after ten, and before sunrise. I understand some of you have jobs outside of the pack, so if this is the case, you may attend your shifts as normal, but as mentioned, you must have at least one other pack member with you. If your shift is during the hours past curfew, you will go straight to work, and straight back. No exceptions. No one is to leave the pack territory without consent from me or your future alphas." I looked up at Tobias and frowned.
"How dangerous are these guys?" I whispered to him. He looked down at me and pulled my body into his chest.
"Extremely. Their weapons are specially made to kill werewolves. They have no mercy whatsoever, and since one of them went after you before I told anyone other than Jax and Holly, they are most likely keeping eyes on us, which means we need to always be prepared. You will be protected, okay? I won't let anyone hurt you." I smiled and stood on my tip toes to kiss his lips lightly.
"What about my dad? They know where I live, what if they hurt him?"
"I'll arrange to have guard wolves positioned by your house at all times, just in case anything happens. That way you can go home too, and be protected when I'm not around." I nodded and let out a breath I didn't know I was holding. Part of me still couldn't help but think it wasn't enough, that something big was about to happen. Something none of us would be prepared for.
Tobias
"You are seriously the cutest thing ever, you know that?" I said to Gill, making his cheeks turned pink. It was a few hours after the pack meeting and we were back at my apartment in the pack house, cuddling on the couch.
"I'm not even doing anything. How am I cute?" I chuckled and began playing with his fiery curls.
"You don't have to do anything. You're just adorable." He rolled his eyes and hid his face in my chest.
"This is all still so surreal to me." He said softly into my shirt.
"What is?" He lifted his head to look at me.
"Everything. You, us, the pack. Everything. Like... Okay this is gonna sound depressing, but I never thought I would ever find love again. I thought after Travis I would be alone and no one would see me that way, let alone someone like you." I gave him a confused look.
"Someone like me?" His blush returned to his face.
"I mean, you're popular, you're insanely attractive, you could have anyone in the whole school, yet you want me. The quiet nerd with the horrible eyesight and crazy hair." I laughed and kissed his cheek lightly.
"You are way more than that, love. You're incredibly attractive yourself. You have those adorable freckles for one. You are an amazing artist, even though I haven't seen any of your art, your father told me about those competitions you used to enter. You have the most precious laugh, and even if we weren't soul mates put together by the Goddess, I know I would have chosen you in a heartbeat." Gill was quiet for a moment before whispering softly.
"You really think that?" I grinned brightly at him and lifted my hand to wipe a stray tear off of his cheek.
"Of course." This made him burst into the largest smile I had ever seen on his face as he pulled me in for a tight embrace.
"Toby, I love you." My body froze. He said... What? He seemed to be in just as much shock, as the second the words spilled past his lips, he jumped back with wide eyes. "Um... I mean- well uh... I know it hasn't been long and um-" I ignored his stuttering and smashed my lips against his, kissing him with everything I had in me.
"I love you too, Gill. More than anything in the whole world. I don't care if this is too soon. I just-" he didn't give me a chance to finish speaking, as he threw his mouth back onto mine. Our lips molded together perfectly, heat radiating between us. Teeth were nipping at lips, tongues were exploring, and sparks were flying. Without even realizing it, and had stood from our spot on the couch, my hands holding him up by his ass, his arms and legs wrapped tightly around me, our lips never separating. As I carried him to the bedroom, his lips left mine and the travelled down my jaw. My wolf growled when I felt his teeth nipping lightly at my neck.
"Toby?" His breath caressed the my skin as his kisses made there way up to my ear.
"Hm?" I half groaned, half responded. He suddenly pulled away from my neck and locked his beautiful eyes on mine.
"Mark me." My eyes widened.
"Are you sure?" Please say yes.
"I'm sure. I love you, and you love me, and I know this is for real. This isn't some twisted joke like it was with Travis. I'm still scared of coming out, but I know that I have you, and that's all I need. I want people to know that I'm yours and you're mine." I couldn't help but smile widely at him.
"It'll sting just for a second, but then it will feel good, alright?" He bit his lip and nodded, craning his neck to the side. I lowered his body onto the bed and crawled over him, his arms and legs still wrapped around me. I began peppering kisses across his cheek, then down his jaw, and finally, down his neck.
"I love you, so much." I whispered, making him shiver as my warm breath brushed across the sensitive part of his neck. Before he could reply, I was kissing the spot I would place my mark, teasing it with my teeth until I felt my canines extending.
"Ready?" I asked, my lips pressing against the heated skin of his neck.
"Yes." With that final word I let my teeth sink into his neck. My entire body was completely filled with an electric current, unlike anything I had ever experienced before. My heart felt light, and more complete than ever before. Gill whimpered softly, his body trembling. I pulled my teeth from his flesh and quickly licked his fresh wound to close it.
"Well that-that was um..." Gill trailed off.
"Amazing?" I smiled at him, lifting my head to meet his eyes.
"Definitely. I feel so... Complete? Like... I don't know. It just feels...right." I closed the short distance between us and kissed him lightly on the lips.
"I love you."
"I love you too."
We both knew the mark wouldn't do anything without completing the entire mating process, but still, any wolf that saw him would be able to tell he's mine.

2nd authors note- reading back some of the comments, I noticed some people were a bit confused. Toby and Gill did not mate in this chapter, and while Toby did technically mark him, without them mating, they won't be able to use the link or any of the other things I mentioned. For now, it's literally just a mark and nothing else. I'm sorry I didn't make that entirely clear.
