: Silver Wolf Astridâs POV âStop blaming yourself for it,â Nova suddenly spoke beside me, breaking me from my thoughts. âIt wasnât your fault. She was the one who approached us and said those mean things first. She was clearly asking for a fight.â
I turned my gaze back to the view outside the window when I finally realized what she was talking about.
âIâm sure she did it on purpose. She deliberately provoked you to make you lose control. It was obvious that she was trying to make you look like a bad person in front of your father. In the end, her plan backfired,â Nova continued talking.
I sighed and lowered my gaze to my fingers. âItâs normal for her to feel that Iâm a threat, Nova. As someone who grew up without a father, I will never know how it feels like to grow up with one.
Asha had experienced that, and now sheâs feg that her father is slowly slipping away because of me. Itâs normal for her to do such things. I only wish that her fear wonât become true.â
Nova momentarily stopped what she was doing as she faced me. What a kind and understanding sister you are,â she mocked me, making me smile.
â
âI wondered what sheâs doing right now. Asha is used to always burying herself in her work. She must be dying of boredom right now,â I muttered with genuine concern. âShould we pay her a visit?â
âDo you want to make her hate you more?â Nova retorted. âDidnât you see how she got mad when you tried to help her?â
âStill, if it wasnât for her, I wouldnât have survived. I still owe her my life for taking care of me when I was fighting for my life,â I muttered a soft reply.
âIf it wasnât for your fatherâs orders, Asha wouldnât have done that. You donât know how much she argued against saving your life. Maybe if she had known that you were her halfâsister, she would have thrown the Lunar Elixir away.â
I didnât give her an answer; I continued to stare out the window.
âIs there something else that is bothering you?â Nova suddenly asked.
I sighed. There was really something else that was bothering me. I had only thought about what happened to Asha earlier when Nova brought it up.
âI just couldnât remember what happened. I donât know how I ended up hurting Asha. Sheâs a very powerful werewolf compared to me. She could easily kill me even when we are both in human form,â I finally voiced out my concerns. âTell me, Nova, what did I look like when I suddenly attacked Asha?â â
Nova pressed her brows together as she thought about it. âYour eyes are gold, and they were glowing,â
Upon the mention of the word gold, I suddenly remembered the majestic silver wolf that I saw when I lost control of my body. That wolf had a glowing golden iris, too.
âWhat else?â I asked Nova.
âI couldnât describe it, but it was like you are possessed by an evil spirit,â she answered unsurely.
I laughed at her description.
âIâm telling the truth, Astrid. Thereâs no way else to subscribe to it,â she added seriously.
The smile on my face faltered when I also remembered the strong desire that the silver wolf had to kill someone and shed blood. Itâs true that if I was only a second late, then maybe Asha would be dead already.
âI donât knowww,â Nova suddenly retracted her words. âI think most of it, Asha was just faking it. Your wolf is just an omega, and she is a pureâbred Alpha. She could easily push you off her to defend herself. I think she just allowed you to hurt her so she could show something to her father.â
I fell silent at her words. I donât think that was true. I could still remember the betrayed look that Asha had in her eyes when her father chose to punish her without punishing me.
I could still remember the genuine pain in her eyes when her father was more concerned that she triggered my traumas than he was concerned with her real bleeding injuries.
I donât think that she took those injuries for a purpose, just like what Nova thought.
My brows furrowed more deeply when I realized something. If Nova could think this way, then it is also possible that Alpha Theron has the same thoughts as her.
Is that the reason why he easily lost his patience with her? He thought his daughter did everything on purpose to put me in a bad light, not knowing that Asha was just truly unable to protect herself from me becauseâ¦
I shook my head at the thought.
Maybe that silver wolf is not real. Maybe I was just imagining things. Where would that wolf even come from?
Itâs more possible that I imagined it than it was really inside my body.
âBy the way, how is your wolf doing? Nova asked.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes. I tried to search for my wolf to connect with Lyra. After searching every corner of my consciousness, I still hadnât found her.
âSheâs still not here,â I answered her Novaâs brows furrowed. She was as confused as I was. âBut she just appeared earlier,â she replied.
âI donât know,â I paused. âMaybe she got tired. She used a lot of energy earlier,â I lied, just so she wouldnât have to worry.
Nova scowled. âThis is Ashaâs fault. If she hadnât done that, we would be able to go home right now.â
I gave her a smile. Just like me, she also misses Drystan so much Donât worry, Drystan promised he would be back after heâs done in the Pack.â
