Today, it wasn’t the overpowering smell of the hospital that caused Sanjay Rathore to furrow his brow with unease; it was his wife, Suvika. In the middle of the night, her water bag had unexpectedly burst, leading him and his brother Dilip to rush her to the hospital. Hours had ticked by since she was taken into the labour room, and Sanjay couldn’t help but pace the floor anxiously.Dilip, excited about becoming an uncle for the third time, took pleasure in observing his brother’s restless state and teasingly remarked, “Bhaisahab! No one would ever guess that you are already a father to two boys.”Sanjay shot him a disapproving look. Before he could redirect his growing unease towards his younger brother, the nurse emerged from the labour room, calling out, “Mr. Rathore!”Both Sanjay and Dilip hurried towards the voice, their hearts pounding with anticipation, as the nurse announced, “Congratulations! It’s a girl!”The announcement had such an impact on Sanjay that he came to a sudden halt. He struggled to comprehend what he had just heard, and his astonishment was clear as he blinked in disbelief. Then, Dilip gently placed his hand on Sanjay’s shoulder and embraced him tightly, saying, “Congratulations, Bhaisahab! Did you hear, we are finally blessed with a girl!”Gradually, the reality sank in for Sanjay, and he wrapped his arms around his brother. In no time, he reciprocated his brother’s embrace with a strength of his own, exclaiming, “A girl! It’s a girl, Dilip! I am the father of a girl now!”His eyes welled up with tears as he offered sincere prayers to the heavens above. It had been countless generations since a girl had been born into their family. Neither he nor his father nor his grandfather had ever had a sister, and this pattern continued through the previous generations. The reason behind the inability of daughter-in-laws to bear female children remained a mystery. However, the moment Sanjay learned about Suvika’s challenging pregnancy, he felt deep down that it would be a girl. The couple had made a solemn promise to one another that they would move heaven and earth to bring their precious baby into this world. Not only them, but Dilip and his wife Vibha were also on edge throughout Suvika’s pregnancy. Now, as the baby entered the world healthy and safe, the joy in Sanjay and Dilip’s hearts knew no bounds. They were on cloud nine, so filled with happiness that they showered the entire hospital with new blankets and delightful treats, spreading their happiness to all who crossed their path.A little while later, the nurse emerged, cradling a tiny baby wrapped in a pink cotton cloth. Sanjay’s eyes welled up with tears at the sight. With trembling hands, he held his precious bundle in his arms. The newborn had a delicate, rosy complexion, her eyes peacefully closed, lips forming a sweet pout, and tiny hands tightly clenched. Nestling closer to her father’s warmth, she emitted a soft coo and the faintest hint of a smile, assuring Sanjay that she sensed the safety of her father’s embrace. As Sanjay held his precious angel even closer, he whispered tenderly, “I am proud of my little survivor. I will move heaven and earth to shower you with every happiness. I won’t ever let you cry, my baby, never.”With this unwavering promise etched in his heart, he entered the room to see his wife. Her face radiated pure joy as she saw the unshakable smile on her husband’s face. Even the births of their two sons, Shaurya and Neel, had not filled his heart with such overwhelming happiness.Oblivious to the tears of happiness streaming down his wife’s face, he couldn’t help but babble in excitement, “Suvi, she looks just like you…our daughter. We have a daughter…”Dilip, knowing the importance of this moment, patted Sanjay’s shoulder warmly as he handed the baby to Suvika.Sanjay, still teary-eyed, wiped away his moist eyes. The mighty heir of the Rathore Clan was now brought to tears by his own bundle of eternal happiness. Little did he know, his daughter would transform him in ways he couldn’t imagine.Softly pressing a kiss on her daughter’s forehead, Suvika cradled her even closer to her chest. As she closed her eyes, memories of her challenging pregnancy flooded her mind. Their daughter, a survivor with a strong spirit, defied the odds. Despite doctors’ warning of the possibility of a miscarriage due to the fragility of the foetus, they never lost hope of welcoming this precious angel into their lives. And now, here was Suvika, embracing her daughter snugly in her arms, overflowing with gratitude and love.As the saying goes, mothers possess an inherent ability to understand their children. They possess an inexplicable knowledge of every little detail about their kids, even without explicitly being informed. In this particular situation, Suvika was convinced that their daughter had unquestionably inherited her looks, but when it came to her determination and inner strength, it resembled that of her husband. In that cherished moment, Suvika’s face lit up with an affectionate smile as she proposed, “Can we name her Imara?”Sanjay, his gaze fixed on their daughter, couldn’t help but chuckle. He tenderly rested a hand on her forehead and inquired, “Why this name?”Suvika, just like Sanjay, couldn’t tear her eyes away from their daughter; this little miracle that lived within her for the entire nine months. She softly whispered, “It was purely her will that I could carry my pregnancy this far to have birthed her. This name, Imara, resembles strength, a strong will.”Dilip, wiping away his own tears, gently took his niece from Suvika’s arms. Holding her close to his chest, he declared with conviction, “I like this name, Bhabhi. She is our Imara. Imara Rathore.”===========Author's Note:Thank you so much for reading this chapter.
