âChe,â Half Qing Sing draws her lips into a seductive yet cold smirk, âDragon Flame, itâs not good for you to always deceive the humans who come here. If it wasnât for me being unable to draw close to your body, I wouldâve long killed you.â
After saying that, the snake woman with half of her face covered in a scale mask turned to Bai Yan, her eyes a verdant green of eerie discomfort. âLittle girl, this dragonâs words are not credible so you must never trust him.â
In response, Bai Yan just sneered due to her own experience: âBut⦠I donât believe in snakes either.â
Going stiff from the unexpected answer, the snake woman had to take a long moment before recollecting herself and breaking out into a giggling laugh.
âYou really are interesting little girl. Why would you think us snakes are liars?â
âApologies, but my impression of snakes isnât very good from past experiences.â
Thatâs right, she hasnât forgotten how the snakes tried to connive after his husband and how they tried to kill her boy and herself. With these points alone, any sort of fondness had been crushed.
âHahaha!â Dragon Flame saw the ugly expression brewing on the demonessâs face and burst out laughing: âHalf Qing Sing, do you hear that? This little girl doesnât trust you so youâre not any better than me!â
After the taunt, the mummified goat snake turns back to Bai Yan. Unlike the last exchange, his tone was much gentler this time around: âLittle girl, hurry and release me, I will give you a great deal of benefits if you do so.â
Turning sharp in the eyes as well after being repeatedly bombarded with requests, Bai Yan swept her gaze across both of them and made her stance: âI wonât believe either of you.â
Just like the snake, Dragon Flameâs expression also turned into a rock. Heâs extremely annoyed at this point but pressed the inner anger down anyways out of fear for breaking any chances he has of escaping.
Itâs then Bai Xiachen finally spoke up, his eyes sparkling with devious light when staring at Half Qing Sing: âSince you have such deep hatred for this dragon god, why didnât you finish him off yourself?â
Almost holding the boy in contempt in her face, the snake answered with snappiness in that voice: âYou think I didnât try? If I can kill this old thing then I wouldâve done so long ago, why would I ask others to do that if I could?â That said, she turns her head towards the altar again where a giant sword lies planted to the ground.
Though the sword handle had long rotted away due to age, the gleaming light from the blade was just as bright since the day it was forged. Itâs obvious to anyone with half a brain that the sword was extremely and unusually sharp.
âDo you see that sword? Pick it up and stab the blade into Dragon Flameâs chest, it will finish off the last spark of life in him. As long as you help me kill this old bastard then I will send you out of this god forsaken place!â
âHow come you donât do it yourself?â asked the little steambun again, his face and voice found only in a curious baby.
Laughing: âUs demons are unable to draw close to that sword, only a human can wield it. If it wasnât because of this guyâs heart being nearly impenetrable, I wouldâve killed him with my own hands long ago.â
âSo thatâs why eh.â Nodding his head like heâs enlightened by the explanation, Bai Yan smiles slyly at his own mother: âMother, why donât you go pick up the sword like she says?â
Bai Yan naturally knew what her boy wanted in this case and played along just as well. Nodding with a smile, she slowly proceeded to the giant sword.
Half Qing Singâs saw this, which made her lose control from elation. She could no longer hold back the joy inside and involuntarily revealed the cheeky cunningness of someone that has achieved their goal in an evil plot.
âHuman girl, you mustnât listen to this snake!â Growing dire in his bloodshot eyes, Dragon Flame sounded almost frantic in his voice now, âIf you kill me then the next one to go will be you!â
Bai Yan continued to ignore the rants of this goat head monster and did what she set out to do. With one pull from both her hands, the giant sword weighing over a thousand jinâs was finally released from its resting spot and held up in the air.
Note: 1 jin = 0.5kg Itâs an old chinese measurement founded in 1959. Hardly used outside of china but still used today in markets.
