Shoosh!
From out of nowhere, a slight rustling sound at the front catches Bai Yanâs attention. Alarmed, she snatches both her children to get behind while she scans the area for signs of danger. Very soon, sheâs discovered the source, itâs a pair of eyes hiding deep inside the greenery and itâs staring at her location!
Normally she wouldnât be afraid of anything, thatâs just how her personality works, but this time Bai Yan became very uncomfortable under this intense gaze. Itâs as if a poisonous snake had wrapped its body around her and made it difficult to breath.
Dragony also felt this distinctly unpleasant sensation. Scurrying to get behind those legs for cover, she timidly clenched onto her motherâs dress for protection: âMother, Iâm scared, thereâs something terrible over there. Can we not go?â
âItâs fine, you two stay here and wait for me, I must go investigate this because itâs likely the only way for us to leave this place.â Loosening her hands around the two nervous kids, Bai Yan gives one final glance behind herself before treading forward with firm strides in those legs.
Surprised at being left behind, Bai Xiachen hurries to reach out: âWait Mother, I want to come with you.â
âIâm going too.â Dragony hurriedly expressed her wishes as well, not wanting to be left behind no matter the fear.
Now thatâs left Bai Yan in a bind. After much consideration, she knew thereâs no other choices here but to take them along. Regardless of her order, these two would definitely tag along so why bother going against their will?
âFine, but you two must stay behind me and not run off no matter what.â Having said that, she returns her attention back to the front for whateverâs lurking in that darkness. Thereâs no way sheâs going to allow a mistake at this point to happen.
âThat⦠that isâ¦.â Bai Yan suddenly halted in her steps after getting a clearer view. Thereâs shock plastered all over that face.
Itâs an altar, and atop of this altar was a monster thatâs being bound to it by multiple spears piercing through its body! So why would Bai Yan call this creature a monster? Of course itâs because of that appearance. A goatâs head with a body shape similar to that of a snake! What a mishmash of characteristics, to say itâs a combination of multiple races wouldnât be an exaggeration in this case.
Now hereâs the spooky part. Despite that body being drained of blood like a husky mummy, Bai Yan could clearly tell itâs still alive. Those eyes definitely moved the second it noticed the uninvited guests here, just that the air it gave off was different to what she felt earlier. What does that mean? Thereâs another creature besides this monster hereâ¦.
âHuman, itâs fate that have led you here, release me and I will give you gifts beyond your wildest dream!â The goat head monster gradually opened its dry husky jaw and spoke.
Though crackling and hoarse due to the condition his vocals were in, this monsterâs voice still left Bai Yan unnerved from top to bottom. Itâs a feeling she never experienced before despite how weak it sounded for an old timer.
âLet you go?â Bai Yan snickers derisively at that foolish request, âIf I did let you go then what assurances do I have that you wonât kill me on the spot? Do you think Iâm that stupid?â
The monster actually appeared taken aback by the rebuttal. Apparently he didnât think others would ever reject his promise.
âHuman, you donât know who I am? I am Dragon God! If you release me from this binding then I can give you countless benefits!â
âDragon God?â Rubbing her chin, Bai Yanâs eyes examined the self-proclaimed dragon god repeatedly. Ticking the corner of her lips upward, âYou look more like a goat with a snakeâs body, which part of yourself looks like a dragon here?â
The monsterâs expression became visibly floored on the face.?This human⦠she doesnât know me? It canât be, my legendary tales have been lost from this world over the years of my confinement?
