Episode 9: The Meeting of Fates

(Briar's POV)

Briar could feel the changes in her body with every passing moment. Her senses were heightened, everything around her felt… sharper. She could hear conversations from across the room, pick up on the faintest rustle of leaves outside the window. The world had become louder, brighter, more vibrant than ever before. But at the same time, it felt like the world was slipping through her fingers.

She stood by the campus fountain, watching as students passed by, none of them aware of the internal storm raging inside her. A storm she didn’t know how to control.

Her heart raced as a strange pull tugged at her chest. It was like a magnetic force, drawing her somewhere, but she couldn’t quite pinpoint where.

She squeezed her eyes shut, trying to focus on anything other than the overwhelming sensations. "What’s happening to me?" she whispered, the words falling from her lips like a prayer.

Her phone buzzed in her pocket, interrupting her thoughts. She pulled it out and saw a text from Tara.

Tara: "Meet me in the parking lot after class. You need to see something."

Briar frowned, unsure of what Tara could mean by that, but something in the text felt urgent, like Tara knew what was happening to her. Briar typed a quick reply, then stuffed her phone back into her pocket.

The sensation in her chest grew stronger as she made her way toward the parking lot, her steps quickening. She couldn’t deny the pull anymore. Something—someone—was calling to her, and it felt as though she was moving closer to the answer she’d been searching for.

When she reached the parking lot, she saw Tara standing by her car, looking around nervously. Ethan was leaning against a nearby tree, his posture casual but his eyes sharp, scanning the area like he was expecting something—or someone.

“You’re late,” Tara remarked, though her voice lacked its usual teasing tone.

Briar opened her mouth to speak but hesitated. Her nerves were on edge. Something felt different about this encounter, like the air was charged with electricity.

“What’s going on?” Briar asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

Tara exchanged a glance with Ethan before stepping closer. “We need to tell you the truth, Briar,” she began, her voice serious. “The truth about who you really are.”

Briar swallowed, her stomach churning. “I already know. I’m a werewolf.”

Tara nodded, her eyes softening. “Yes, but there’s more. You’re not just a werewolf, Briar. You’re something… more. You’re the mate of the Alpha. Olivia.”

The words hit Briar like a physical blow, her breath catching in her throat. She took a step back, her knees weakening. “Olivia?” she repeated, the name tasting strange on her tongue. She had heard of Olivia, the Alpha of the pack, but she never imagined their lives were so intertwined.

Ethan stepped forward, his expression serious. “It’s true. The bond between you and Olivia is powerful. It’s not just fate; it’s destiny. But it’s not something you can fight. It’s who you are, Briar. You’re meant to be with her.”

Briar’s heart pounded in her chest. “But… I don’t understand. I don’t even know her. I don’t know what to do with this. Why didn’t you tell me sooner?”

Tara reached out, placing a hand on Briar’s shoulder. “We’ve been waiting for you to realize it on your own. It’s something that can’t be forced. But you need to meet Olivia. She’s been waiting for you, too. She’ll explain everything.”

Briar felt like she was drowning in a sea of emotions, too many to comprehend. Her mind raced as she thought about Olivia, about the pull she had felt toward her—she now knew what it was.

“I don’t know if I’m ready for this,” Briar murmured, shaking her head.

Tara’s gaze softened. “You don’t have to be ready. The bond will make you strong, Briar. And Olivia will be there to guide you.”

Briar looked at Ethan, his eyes holding a quiet understanding. “What happens now?”

Tara’s lips quirked into a small, comforting smile. “Now, you go meet Olivia. She’s waiting for you.”

(Olivia’s POV)

Olivia’s heart was pounding in her chest as she made her way through the woods, the air thick with the scent of pine and earth. She could feel Briar out there, her presence calling to her like a magnet. Every part of Olivia’s wolf—Lyra—was on high alert, ready for what was coming.

They had waited long enough. The bond between them was undeniable, and Olivia could no longer ignore it. She had to meet Briar. She had to claim her mate.

As Olivia neared the clearing, she saw Briar standing there, her eyes wide and uncertain, her body tense. The moment their gazes met, Olivia felt it—an explosion of emotions, of understanding, of a connection so deep it almost hurt.

Briar’s breath caught in her throat. “Olivia…” she whispered, her voice trembling.

Olivia took a step closer, her heart aching at the sight of Briar’s vulnerability. “Briar, it’s okay,” she said softly, her voice carrying the weight of centuries of Alpha authority, yet there was a tenderness there that only Briar could draw out of her. “You’re not alone. I’m here.”

Briar’s eyes searched Olivia’s, her expression torn. “I don’t understand. This… this is too much.”

Olivia stepped closer, closing the distance between them. She gently cupped Briar’s face in her hands, feeling the warmth of her skin. “I know it’s overwhelming. But you don’t have to understand it all right now. We’ll go through it together. I’m here for you, Briar.”

Briar’s eyes fluttered shut, and she leaned into Olivia’s touch. “I don’t know if I’m ready for this.”

Olivia’s heart ached. “You don’t have to be ready. Just trust me. I’m here, and I will never let you go.”

For a moment, the world seemed to still around them. It was just the two of them, and the bond between them had never felt more real. Briar’s wolf was awakening, just as Olivia’s had all those years ago. There was no turning back. They were bound, by fate, by destiny, by something far greater than either of them could fully understand.

Briar opened her eyes, and the depth of her feelings was there, raw and honest. “I feel it. I feel you.”

Olivia nodded, her voice hushed. “I’ve been waiting for you, Briar. I always knew you were out there, and now you’re here. You’re mine. And I will protect you with everything I have.”

Briar’s eyes softened, and for the first time in what felt like forever, she smiled—a smile that reached her eyes and melted Olivia’s heart.

“I’m yours.”

Well you don't think Briar accept Olivia very fast.
