Episode 7: The Pull of Fate
(Briarâs POV)
Briar woke up with an odd sense of urgency that morning. It was like her entire body was vibrating with some unknown energy, as if something important was about to happen. She swung her legs off the bed, her feet hitting the floor with a soft thud.
âOkay, Briar. Youâve got this,â she muttered under her breath, trying to shake off the unease that had settled in her stomach.
It had been a few days since her parents had dropped the werewolf bomb on her, and each day felt like she was swimming through thick fog. Her senses were sharper, everything around her felt⦠heightened. But it wasnât just that. There was a constant, gnawing pull deep inside her, like somethingâor someoneâwas calling to her.
She walked over to the mirror, examining her reflection. Her dark brown eyes looked tired, even though sheâd been sleeping better lately. Her skin seemed a bit too pale, her hair a bit too wild. She reached up, tugging at her unruly locks, but it didnât seem to help.
âWhat the hell is going on with me?â she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Her phone buzzed on the nightstand, interrupting her thoughts. It was a text from Tara.
Tara: Hey, are you up yet? We need to talk.
Briar frowned. Taraâs messages were always a little more cryptic than usual, but there was something in this one that felt different. She quickly typed back.
Briar: Whatâs up? Everything okay?
Tara: Just meet us at the usual spot in 20. Itâs important.
Briarâs gut twisted with an odd mix of anticipation and dread. She didnât know why, but her instincts were telling her that something big was about to happen.
She dressed quickly, throwing on a hoodie and jeans before grabbing her backpack. As she walked out of her room, she caught sight of her mom in the kitchen, humming while making breakfast.
âIâm going out with Tara and Ethan,â Briar said, trying to keep her voice light.
Her mom didnât look up, but she nodded. âBe safe. And if anything feels strange, donât hesitate to call us.â
Briar hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should ask more questions about what was happening to her. But she bit her tongue. Her parents had been as honest as they could, but they didnât seem to have all the answers either.
She grabbed her keys and left the house, driving to the spot Tara had mentioned. The drive was short, but Briarâs mind was racing the entire time.

(Oliviaâs POV)
Olivia stood near the border of her packâs territory, her arms crossed tightly over her chest. The wind was picking up, and she could feel Lyra stirring within her. The pull toward Briar was getting stronger.
âSheâs close,â Lyraâs voice was soft, almost pleading. âI can feel her.â
Olivia closed her eyes for a moment, her focus sharpening as she listened. She could sense Briarâs presenceâthough they hadnât met yetâshe knew. Her wolf knew. And it was more than just a sense of attraction. It was a connection.
She glanced over at Caleb, who was standing beside her, his expression serious.
âSheâs almost ready, isnât she?â Caleb asked, his tone low.
Olivia gave a short nod. âI think so. Briarâs senses are growing stronger by the day. Sheâs feeling it too.â
Her thoughts were interrupted by the soft hum of a car engine in the distance. She turned her head, and her eyes locked on Tara and Ethanâs car.
âLetâs go,â Olivia said, her voice firm. âWe need to talk.â
---
Briar arrived at the usual spot, an old tree near the edge of campus that theyâd claimed as their hangout. Tara and Ethan were already waiting, sitting on the grass with their backs against the trunk of the tree. But there was something different about the way they were sitting todayâsomething tense in the air.
Briar felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up as she approached.
âWhatâs going on, guys?â Briar asked, trying to sound casual, but her heart was pounding.
Tara looked up, a soft but worried smile on her face. âWe need to tell you something important, Briar. Something you need to know.â
Ethan pushed himself to his feet, his usual carefree attitude replaced by something much more serious.
âWeâve been keeping an eye on you, like Olivia asked us to. Youâre not alone in this, Briar. Weâre here for you. But thereâs something you need to understand.â
Briar raised an eyebrow. âOkay, this sounds like a lot. Whatâs going on?â
Taraâs eyes flickered to Ethan before she nodded. âBriar⦠weâre wolves too. Just like you.â
Briar blinked. Her heart skipped a beat. âWhat?â
Ethan stepped forward, his eyes soft but firm. âWeâre not just friends, Briar. Weâre part of the same pack. Oliviaâs pack.â
Briar took a step back, her mind spinning. âWait⦠so⦠youâre sayingâ¦â She trailed off, her breath coming faster.
Tara reached out, placing a hand on Briarâs arm. âYouâre not alone in this. Olivia is the alpha of our pack. Sheâs waiting for the right time to meet you. But weâre here to help you figure things out.â
Briarâs head was spinning. Everything was happening so fast. Her mind was racing, trying to make sense of it all.
âYou⦠You knew?â Briar asked, her voice shaking. âYouâve known this whole time and never said anything?â
Ethan sighed. âWe couldnât. Not until you were ready. But now⦠now itâs time, Briar.â
Briar stood there, frozen, as everything started to fall into place. The strange sensations, the pull she felt deep inside her, the odd connection she felt to these two. And now it made sense.
But there was still so much she didnât understand.

(Oliviaâs POV)
Olivia watched from a distance, hidden among the trees. Her heart raced as she observed the conversation unfolding between Briar and her friends.
Lyra was restless. âShe knows. She can feel it now.â
Oliviaâs throat tightened. âI know. And soon, weâll be able to meet her.â
Her thoughts were interrupted as Taraâs voice reached her ears. âSheâs ready. Briarâs ready.â
Oliviaâs heart soared. âItâs time.â
