Sasha paused and looked around before she realized what was going on.
âItâsâ¦itâs nothing. I was just thinking if Sabrina would talk to me again. She called in this afternoon and
gave me a round of hard scolding,â Sasha lied.
I am so good at lying nowâ¦
Sebastian didnât doubt her words. Instead, he placed his fork down and handed her a bowl of soup.
âNo, of course not. She wonât hold a grudge on you, silly. Letâs not forget sheâs dumber than you are.â
What is that supposed to mean? Did he really have to say that?
Sasha waited on him as he finished his food before asking, âSoâ¦about you and Devin. Are you guys
cool now?â
âWhat do you think?â Sebastian asked as he slowly wiped his hands with a napkin and stared at Sasha.
Sashaâs heart began to pound as a sense of guilty conscience came over her. It was as if she was
caught doing something bad.
âWhy are you asking me? Itâs your business, anyways.â
âI know. But, arenât you the one who warned me not to get close with him? So now Iâm asking you,
should I distance myself from him?â Sebastian asked seriously.
Sashaâs mouth gaped wide open in surprise.
She stared at him like a fool for some time before she asked, âYouâd listen to me?â
âOf course.â Sebastian nodded solemnly.
Sasha gulped and pondered for a moment before she answered. She eyed him cautiously and
clenched her teeth and replied, âYes! I think itâs better that way.â
Sebastian grinned. âHmm? Why do I have the feeling that you see him as a monster?â
âAm I wrong? I just think that you should be more cautious about it. Yancy is the best example, sheâs
full of tricks! Who knows what sort of dirty tricks she has up her sleeve? Hence, weâd better have our
guards up.â
âWell, if you donât want to break off your friendship with him, you could also reconcile after youâve dealt
with Sinch Enterprise and Yancy.â
Sasha was worried Sebastian might be upset. So, she deliberately said it childishly and glanced at him,
puppy-eyed.
âHmm.â
The corner of Sebastianâs eyes twitched vigorously!
What a silly girl!
He shook his head helplessly as he didnât believe her words.
However, I would stop contacting Devin for now if thatâs what she wishes. Although she tends to say all
sorts of nonsense to me, I know that she wouldnât harm me. Never ever!
The couple rested for a short time after lunch before they headed back to work.
Sebastian immediately drowned himself with his work in the company.
As for Sasha, she picked up and her phone and sent Yancy a text message as soon as she arrived at
her office.
Sasha: Apparently, the case is about to end. Donât worry about the compensation, itâs nothing you canât
afford. The worst-case scenario would be handing over the shares of the Hayes Corporation that you
own alongside some monetary compensation.
Sasha decided to leave out the part about the legal responsibilities the person in charge would have to
face. She didnât want to anger Yancy.
However, she was clueless that Yancy had known about the situation the moment Sasha called the
legal department to ask.
âMrs. Tsurka, I believe Sasha is lying too, right?â
âLying? Isnât that what she always do? Letâs not forget that I know of her dirty little secret. Sheâd know
better than to upset me unless she has a death wish.â
Yancy was not surprised at Sashaâs behavior.
Yet, Yancyâs housekeeper was confused.
Why did she ask her to find out about the lawsuit even though she knew Sasha wouldnât be honest
about it? Wouldnât Akiko be a better choice for this task?
âMrs. Tsurka, so what is the purpose of thisâ¦?â
âIt was only the chance for me to contact her once again. Or else, what reason would I have to
approach her? I am someone who keeps my promises you knowâ¦â
Yancy was trimming the flower branches in her garden as she laughed so hard her features were
distorted.
A man of his words?
The housekeeper instantly understood her motive as her heart went cold.
So this was her plan all along, she set Sasha up just to make her lie. Once she does, Mrs. Tsurka
would state that Sasha lied to her. Not only would the Hayes Corporation ask Sinch Enterprise for
compensation, but Mrs. Tsurkaâs son would also have to prison. Iâm sure she would be very upset and
angry.
Once that happens, she would have the power to control Sasha once again.
What a terrible woman she is. I canât believe sheâs so vicious and scheming to such a pointâ¦
âSpeaking of which, where are the photos? Have you gotten them?â
âYes.â The housekeeper sent Yancy the photos she asked for.
It was two photos of Sasha working in the company. Yet, the photos of her were much more eye-
catching this time.
For example, the first photo was Sasha discussing work with the staff of her department. She wore an
elegant and professional-looking suit paired with light makeup to complete the look. She looked like a
leader with a bold personality yet didnât overshadow her femininity as a woman.
All in all, she was heartthrob.
As for the second photo, it was even more interesting.
It was a photo of Sasha and Sebastian. The couple wasnât often seen together in public nor do they
display public affection to avoid suspicion or gossip. Sasha would always visit Sebastian at his office or
theyâd meet at the lounge on the top floor.
