Toni's POV

I woke up to the sound of machines and beeping. I had no idea where I was or how I got there, I look around and see mum and dad sleeping in the corner. I kind of coughed which made mum wake up, shaking my dad awake she called for the nurse to come and check on me.

"What happened?" I asked confused. Mum took a deep breath before replying. "You and Serena got into a car accident, a drunk driver hit your side of the car," I was still confused, who is Serena?

"Whose Serena?" I asked, "She's your wife," my dad replied.

"I work at Portman and my girlfriends name is Anna. Why isn't she here?" I asked starting to cry. Mum whispered something in dads ear then walked out, I wonder where she's going.

"Dad what day is it?"

"Its Wednesday, you've been in a coma for the past week. Serena has been very worried about you," I don't know who this Serena chick is but I'm starting to get sick of her name. "Don't you mean Anna dad?" I asked, he shook his head and took my hand. "Darling you haven't spoken to Anna in over a year," why wouldn't I of spoken to her we live together for crying out loud.

The nurse walked in at that point and my dad turned his attention to her instead, "Toni is having memory loss is this normal?"

The nurse nodded, "Usually with an accident that bad, memory loss usually occurs. People tend to have their memories return in a few days sometimes it can take weeks," dad nodded, "She thinks that she works at her old job and is with someone else is this normal too?" I turn to the nurse, "you don't have to answer everything my dad asks you,"

"Memory loss can affect a persons perception of time, generally once their memory starts to return everything goes back to the way it was before the accident," The nurse replied to my dad totally ignoring my comment. How rude.

Serena's POV

I heard a knock at the door and saw Valerie walk through the door, I was so pleased to see her. Both her and Justin had been visiting me in hospital, no one else came so it was nice when they did. It has been a very long week without hearing my wife's voice or have her hold me, I missed her so much. I only was able to leave the bed when I needed to go to the toilet or to shower.

"Hi Valerie I wasn't expecting to see you today, how are you?" I asked smiling.

"I'm alright, so I have some news about Toni,"

"Finally I've been dying to know how she is seeing as I can't go see her," Valerie came and sat on the bed and took my hand, my heart dropped. Toni don't you dare have died on me. "She's awake," I smiled and sighed with relief. " but," I hate the word but, "She has some memory loss and doesn't know who you are and she thinks that Anna and her are still together,"  I didn't know how to react, I wanted to cry but I also knew that it wasn't her fault. Stupid drunk driver. I was so mad and angry that I wanted to scream. Unfortunately due to hospital regulations you're not allowed to do that.

"I need to see her," I said pulling the sheets off me. "I'm not sure thats a good idea Serena," Valerie responded. "Please," she must of seen the desperation in my eyes because she nodded. I hopped out of bed and taking my IV machine with me I made my way to Toni's room. I was very nervous, but when we got there her bed was gone.

"They took her to get some tests done, I didn't want them waiting for a week or so to see if her memory would come back," Justin told us as we walked in the room.

"Serena darling let me take you back to your bed and I'll come talk to you when she's back," Valerie said, I nodded. "Okay but I want to be there when they tell you and Toni the results,"

I woke up many hours later to my dinner being bought in, goody hospital food. As I was halfway through Justin came in, "the results came back for Toni's scans do you want to come hear them?" I took a deep breath before replying. "yes, I'll come now,". Making my way to Toni's room I was very nervous and I had to stop for a second before walking in. Toni looked at me very confused, my heart broke just a little. She had never looked at me in the way she just did, it made me very sad.

We all turned to the doctor to hear what he had to say. "Toni has a tumour in her brain that's pressing against the spot where her memory is. We will be taking her into surgery, but the surgery comes with some risks as all surgeries do. She may still not regain her memory, and there's a risk that the nerves in her arms and legs could be affected,"

Unfortunately we now had to wait for hours until she got out of surgery. I went back to my room to sleep because I was feeling run down. Valerie decided to sit in my room for a while, it was a nice comfort knowing she was in there.

"What if she doesn't remember me when she wakes up?" That's when the tears started. Valerie hugged me but it wasn't the same. "We can only hope she does remember love, Justin and I don't want her thinking that Anna is still her girlfriend,"

I laid back on the bed and got lost in thought.

Our honeymoon was perfect. We ended up going to Bali. It was so perfect and beautiful, I was so grateful for the experience and the opportunity to go. We went to an elephant sanctuary where we got to wash, feed and ride the elephants. Later that day I told Toni that I wanted to go back there one day, she laughed and said it sounded like a date.

We went out for dinner that night and got to experience the Balinese culture and tried their food. Safe to say I won't be trying it again.

We spent a week exploring Phuket before heading home.

I smiled at the memory, I hope she wakes up and remembers me because otherwise I'd be lost without her. I fell asleep to the soft sounds of Valerie snoring.

When I woke up Valerie was gone I wonder if it meant that Toni was out of surgery. I headed to her room to see if she was back yet.

Thankfully she was, she looked so small in her bed. I wanted to cry but I had to hold it together for her. She had a bandage wrapped around her head and was connected up to the drips.

The next day I was well enough to be discharged from the hospital. Valerie told me to go home and have a decent sleep and eat food. Unfortunately for us Toni still hadn't woken up from her surgery.

My car was at home so Valerie promised to drive me home.

As thankful as I was to be home I really wanted to be back with Toni, the house felt so empty without her.

I hopped in the shower and let the water rush over my body. It was such a relief, I finally felt clean after being suck in hospital for a week. Having proper food was so good too.

Throughout the week at hospital I had been asked lots of questions by the police but I don't remember anything because I had been asleep during the accident.

Valerie had promised to update me in the morning about Toni's condition, so I went to bed and tried to sleep the best I could.

The next day I headed to the hospital because I couldn't bare the thought of being in our house alone and not knowing how Toni was.
