Chapter 951
Marcus immediately hopped off his desk, dropping his files and walked over to Cornelia, âCornelia, whatâs up?â
Cornelia rushed her words, âNatalia is bruised all over. Dr. Lester needs to check her out and give us some topical medicationâ
As Cornelia prepared to change Natalia into her pajamas, she discovered a horrifying sight underneath Nataliaâs clothes her body was covered in wounds
There were numerous wounds of various sizes, some looking like whip marks, others appearing to be from small needles. There was no part of her body under her clothes that was unscathed, Cornelia was heartbroken to see this. She knew these wounds were inflicted by the Reese family. How could they possibly abuse her if Natalia was their child? This made Cornelia even more certain that Natalia was not a Reese. If Natalia wasnât a Reese, then she had a strong chance of being a Stewart, possibly her own sister. The thought of her sister being abused was gutâwrenching.
Marcus comforted her, âDonât sweat it, letâs get Dr. Lester in here first.â
Upon entering the room and seeing Nataliaâs wounds, Dr. Lester gasped, âHow could the Reese family do this to their own kid?â
While treating Nataliaâs wounds, he stated, âTill use the best meds for her. Physical scars can be healed, but the emotional ones may last a lifetime.â
Cornelia understood, âYeah, I got it. Iâll be there for her.â
After receiving the medication, Cornelia carefully cleaned Nataliaâs wounds and applied the medicine. By the time she was done, it was almost dark. She stepped out of the room, the scent of food wafting through the air. She followed the smell to the kitchen where she found Marcus busily cooking.
The man who used to hate the smell of cooking was in the kitchen.
Cornelia walked over and hugged him from behind, resting her face on his back. Marcus commented, âHungry, huh? Dinnerâs almost readyâ
Cornelia held him tighter, not saying a word.
Feeling the dampness on his back, Marcus quickly dropped what he was doing and held Cornelia, âCornelia, donât worry. If we can prove sheâs your sister, Iâll make sure she stays here, no more suffering.â
In his comforting embrace, Cornelia whispered, âJust let me hold you, donât talk.â
The recent events had pushed Cornelia to her limits, but having Marcus by her side made everything less scary.
Marcus just held her in silence.
After a while, Cornelia lifted her head, âDonât you have work to do? Why are you cooking?â
Marcus replied, âI just had a video conference with them. Ben will bring the contract for me to sign soon.â
Cornelia asked, âBen is coming over here?â
Marcus confirmed, âYes.â
As the words left his mouth, the doorbell rang
Marcus added, âThat should be him. My stew is almost done, you go get the door.â
Cornelia replied, âI donât want to!â
Marcus said, âBen knows about us now.â
Cornelia asked, âSince when?â
Marcus answered, âNot too long ago.â
Cornelia shot Marcus a pitiful look before reluctantly making her way to the door.
As she opened the door, sure enough, it was Ben standing there. Even though she was prepared, Cornelia felt slightly awkward, âBenâ¦â
