Chapter 949
The murmur of âCorneliaâ had Corneliaâs heart pounding madly, âNatalia, itâs me, donât be scared. Youâre safe now, and no one can harm you anymore?
Natalia didnât reply to Cornelia, but subconsciously held onto Corneliaâs hand tightly, as if it was her lifeline. Cornelia held Nataliaâs hand back, and kept calling her name in her ear, hoping to make her feel safe.
Marcus was quietly watching from the side, not interrupting them, even telling the driver to start the car in a hushed voice.
After the car left the airport parking lot, Marcus spoke to Cornelia, âCornelia, weâll take her home first. Have Dr. Lester check her out.â
Cornelia nodded, âI want to do a DNA test for Natalia and my grandmother. If sheâs part of the Stewart family, her DNA should match my grandmotherâs.â
Marcus said, âAlright, Iâll arrange it.â
Cornelia paused, then said. âThere are many items my grandmother used in the Hartley Mansion, I think we should be able to extract some useful DNA samples.â
âHmm.â Marcus gently ruffled Corneliaâs hair, âCornelia, do you have any idea how much I admire you?â
He, the CEO of the Hartley Group, actually admiring her! Cornelia was clearly ecstatic, her eyes shining brightly like two topâgrade gems, âWhat do you admire about me?â
Marcus looked at Cornelia, his eyes full of affection and admiration, âYouâre smart and calm, always able to pinpoint the key issues no matter the
situation.â
Cornelia had climbed her way to the position of the CEOâs special assistant of the Hartley Group with her own abilities. Her capabilities were indeed not to be overlooked. But having lost her parents at a young age and often being subject to criticism, she wasnât very confident inside. Now that Marcus was praising her, she was happy, but also a bit unsure, âAm I really as good as you say?â
âYouâre even better than what I said Marcus gently caressed her face, âYouâre the best person in my eyes.â
He had praised her more than once as the best person in his eyes. Having been praised so many times, Corneliaâs confidence increased a bit, âSo are youâ
Marcus asked, âWhat do you mean by âso are you?â
Cornelia said, âIn my eyes, youâre also the best person, and no one can compare to you.â
Marcus chuckled, âDo you really think so? Or are you just trying to flatter me?â
Cornelia said, âBoth!â
âYou little sneak!â Marcus gently flicked her forehead and continued, âI have a villa thatâs empty at the moment. I wasnât planning on living there. We can let her stay there.â
Cornelia said, âGiven Nataliaâs current situation, itâs not advisable for her to be alone. I donât want to bother you anymore. Iâll take her to my new house.â
Marcus couldnât accept Cornelia distancing herself from him. He emphasized again in a deep voice, âCornelia, Iâm your husband. I should be doing. anything for you.â
Cornelia responded, âIn this world, no one is obliged to do anything for anyone else. Youâre willing to help me, to be with me, and thatâs you being kind to me. I canât take your kindness for grantedâ
Marcus now understood that this girlâs stubbornness was not ordinary.
Talking about the new house, Cornelia suddenly thought of something, âHow much did you secretly contribute to the decoration of that house of mine?â
Trent was a designer recommended to Cornelia by Marcus under Jeremyâs identity. Initially, Cornelia didnât know Jeremy was Marcus, she thought Trent was just an ordinary designer. But a few days ago, she accidentally read an interview and found out Trent was a wellâknown interior designer who had won numerous global design awards.
