Chapter 924
Zack said, âLetâs play a few more rounds, shall we? Wanna see if I can beat ya?â
âNope, we gotta catch some Zâs, replied Comelia. âYou guys can take a quick snooze on the study floor for a couple hours before itâs our turn.â
âAs men, we can totally pull an allânighter. You ladies go rest. We got this,â Zack insisted.
Marcus backed him up, âYou guys go ahead, weâll hold the fort.â
Comelia wanted to chime in about Marcusâ health, but Tanisha dragged her away, âAlright, you two stay put, weâll go take a breatherâ
The ladies all retreated into the study.
Once the door was shut, Tanisha tumed to Cornelia, âNelly, donât spoil your man too much, Pampering them will only make them lazy and youâll be the one breaking your back.â
Sonya nodded along. âNelly, just look at those two. Theyâre the result of our pampering.
When we just got married, my husband would help out with the cooking. Later, when I was pregnant and staying home, Iâd prepare dinner early to ease his workload
At first, he cared and would ask if I was tired. But as time went by, it became an expectation. If I didnât cook one day, heâd get pissed.
I work just like him. Why does he get to chill on the couch and watch TV while I have to cook?â
Comelia had heard similar stories before, Iâll keep what you said in mindâ
âThese are life experiencesâ Tanisha said. âDonât just listen, remember them. Abby, youâre gonna get married one day too, so listen up.â
âIâm all ears,â Abigail reassured them.
Sonya set up the bedding and laid down, then asked Cornelia, âNelly, did you spill all the beans to Jeremy?â
Comelia nodded, âYeahâ
Sonya looked worried, âItâs good to be honest in a marriage, but you shouldnât tell your partner everything. Some secrets are meant to be kept.â
âGot it,â said Cornelia.
âThose old stories of yours are circulating on the internet, Jeremy must know by now. Does he mindâ¦â
It was understandable for a man to mind, Sonya was right to worry.
âJeremy doesnât mind,â Cornelia cut her off, âAnd the decision to release the video was made together with him.â
Hearing this, Sonya relaxed, âAs long as he doesnât mind. But we still have some words of wisdom for you, are you willing to listen?â
Cornelia didnât have a mom, and both women thought of her as their daughter, so when she got married, they both wanted to warn her about something.
âGo ahead, Iâm all ears,â Cornelia reassured them.
âAbby, you listen up too.â
Abigail was already half asleep, but she forced herself to stay awake, âIâm listening.â
Sonya laid between them, took their hands, and asked seriously. âWhat are your views on marriage?â
Abigail yawned, âIf I meet the right guy, Iâll tie the knot If not, no biggie. Societyâs pretty chill about it.â
Cornelia agreed, âI think the same way as Abby When you find the right person, you get married and then you commit to making it work.â
