Chapter 900
Marcus squeezed Corneliaâs hand, âAre you still mad at me?â
âDo I look mad?â she shot back
âI was just worried you were,â Marcus said.
âRemember when we fought? You said we should always talk things out rationally, no matter what I remember that Iâm not going to throw a tantrumâ Cornelia mplied. During their previous argument, Cornelia, in a fit of anger, let slip the word âdivorceâ. She regretted it immensely afterward. She believed that no matter the circumstances were, âdivorceâ was a word not to be taken lightly, as it could cause great harm to both parties in a marriage.
âIII remember that too, Marcus reassured her, giving her hand another squeeze
Upstairs, Briana noticed Cornelia was missing again. âGranny Luisa, whereâs Corneliaâ she asked.
Granny Luisa searched around in a hurry but couldnât find her, and she became even more anxious. âWe should look for her, just in case something happened to Nellyâ she
said anxiously
âCalm down, Granny Luisa,â Abigail said. âI bet she knew her husband was coming home and couldnât wait to see him, so she went downstairs to greet himâ
As soon as Abigail finished speaking. Cornelia and Marcus appeared, hand in hand.
Abigail and Granny Luisa exchanged glances See, Granny Luisa? I told you so,â Abigail said with a smirk.
âAbby, do you have a boyfriend?â Granny Luisa asked. âIf not, I can set you up with a good man.â
*Thanks, but Iâve got a boyfriend now. We actually just visited his parents the other day. I wish Iâd met you sooner, so you couldâve introduced me to a handsome guy like Marcus. Abigail replied
âWell, donât forget to invite me to your wedding.â Granny Luisa said.
âOf course,â Abigail reassured her.
Cornelia and Marcus joined them. âWhat are you guys talking about?â Cornelia asked.
âDid you go downstairs specially to meet Marcus?â Granny Luisa asked.
âYes, I did,â Cornelia replied.
The two young lovers sat down, hands tightly clasped, neither willing to let go. Seeing their affectionate display, Granny Luisa felt a sense of relief. She looked at the urn containing Granny Rebeccaâs ashes and said quietly to herself, âRebecca, you see? Theyâre very much in love. We did the right thing bringing them together.â
âGranny Luisa, tonight Iâll stay with Nelly and everyone to keep watch. Itâs getting late, so you should go back to your room and rest. Granny Luisa was getting older, staying up late was not good for her health, and Marcus was worried about her well-being.
âIâm not in a hurry. There are a few things I need to discuss, Granny Luisa said, adjusting her position for comfort. âNelly, you havenât prepared your grandmotherâs grave yet, have you? Let Marcus handle it.â
âMy grandma didnât want me to worry, so she bought her own plot years ago,â Cornelia explained.
Granny Luisa finally felt at ease. âYou young people stay here. Iâm going to bed,â she said.
Marcus and Cornelia escorted her to her room. As they were about to leave, Granny Luisa took Corneliaâs hand. âNelly, stay. I have something to say to you. Marcus, you can
goâ
âAlright,â Marcus said, kindly closing the door behind him.
Granny Luisa held Corneliaâs hand tightly, sobbing as she said, âNelly, Iâm so sorry! Iâm so sorry!â
