Chapter 859
Marcus asked, âDoes that need to be washed?â
Cornelia was speechless.
He was a clean freak! He never wore his outer clothes for more than a day, how could he possibly wear the same underwear for two days?
How was she supposed to deal with this? Suddenly, she started to feel an aversion towards him!
Then she heard him say, âI throw my underwear away after wearing them once. I change into fresh pair every day. If you donât believe me, you can check for yourself.â
Cornelia replied, âI believe you! I believe you!â
Okay, she admitted that she was being narrow-minded. She had never experienced the luxurious life of the rich.
Cornelia ignored him and went to sit in front of her vanity for her skincare rountine. By the time she finished, Marcus had already laid down. The bed was not meant for two people. Once he laid down, there was hardly any space left for her.
Slowly, Cornelia approached the bed. Just as she sat down, his strong arm reached out and pulled her into a tight embrace. He buried his face in her neck, breathing in her unique scent and let out a content sigh, âCornelia, can we stop fighting?â
Cornelia replied sullenly, âYou think I like to fight?â
Did he know how upset she was after their fight today? He probably didnât.
Marcus said, âNo matter what, we should always communicate rationally. Neither of us can mention divorce again.â
Cornelia knew that mentioning divorce would hurt, âI promise you, I wonât casually mention divorce.â
With her promise, Marcus held her even tighter. It felt so good to hold her like this!
He was holding her so tightly that Cornelia was having a hard time breathing. She shifted a little and accidentally pulled open his shirt, revealing his muscular chest.
As she looked up, she saw several fresh wounds of varying degrees on his chest.
Cornelia immediately became worried, âWhat happened to your chest?â
Marcus replied, âWhat do you think?â
âHow would I know!â Too worried, Cornelia didnât catch his hint. In her panic, she pulled open his shirt further to see more wounds on his back. Some were big, some were small, all of varying depth. It hurt her to see him like this, âWho did this to you? I want Ayden back by your side, I donât need him with me.â
Marcus answered, âYou really forgot?â
Cornelia asked, âWhat?â
Marcus said, âThese wounds were from the little wildcat last nightâ¦â
Cornelia didnât respond.
Memories of the past flooded back to her. She was in pain last night, and she made him feel the sameâ¦
Seeing Corneliaâs face turn red, Marcus knew that she remembered, âYou finally remembered?â
Cornelia didnât want to talk to him anymore. She buried her face in his chest and kept quiet. Marcus laughed, a deep and resonating laugh.
Cornelia said, âNo laughing!â
Marcus replied, âOkay, I wonât laugh.â
Seeing him suppress his laughter, Cornelia looked up at him. She reached out and gently touched his wounds, âDoes it still hurt?â
Marcus said, âNo!â
Cornelia asked, âDo you have any ointment? I can apply it for you.â
Marcus replied, âNo need. Iâm fine.â
