Chapter 756
Sabrina said, âThis is the Hartley familyâs own business. Even if Marcâs trying to make things easier for his wife, whatâs the big deal? Whoâs gonna have the guts to question that?â
Roman gave Sabrina a gentle nudge and started, âGranny Luisa, thereâs something about Cornelia that Iâm not sure if I should tell you.â
Granny Luisa asked, âWhat is it?â
Roman took out his phone, scrolled to a photo, and handed it to Granny Luisa. âThis happened this afternoon and itâs blowing up online. Pretty sure everyone in the country knows by now.â
When Granny Luisa recognized the girl in the photo was Cornelia, she was shaking with anger, âWho dared to photoshop these pictures? Who dared to smear Nellyâs name? When I find out whoâs behind this, theyâre gonna pay.â
Roman asked, âGranny Luisa, is there any chance the photo isnât photoshopped, but real?â
Granny Luisa snapped, âWhat are you implying? You think you know Cornelia better than me? Nellyâs character is impeccable. Iâll have Marc find out who made these photos. Iâll find the culprit behind this and make them pay.â
Roman paused, acting like he was in a tough spot, âGranny Luisa, there are some things I didnât want to bring up, but now that I know, I think I should let you in on it. This girl, Cornelia, she used to be my girlfriend.â
Sabrina exclaimed, âWhat did you just say? You canât just toss around words like that.â
Granny Luisa coldly glared at Roman, âSpill it. Whatâs the deal?â
Roman said, âYou probably know I went to University of Riverton. Cornelia also graduated from there. During my junior year, she was in her sophomore year. That year, I pursued her, and she became my girlfriend.
âI never would have thought that when she went home for summer, she seduced a married man, and got caught by his wife. The whole thing blew up, even reaching our university. She was almost expelled. When I found out, I broke things off. I couldnât be with a girl with such reckless behavior.â
Smack-
A slipper flew from the distance and hit Roman right on the forehead.
Granny Rebecca had just entered the living room when she heard someone badmouthing Nelly. She immediately took off her slipper and threw it at Roman, âSo you were the one who hurt Nelly!â
Still not satisfied, Granny Rebecca took off her other slipper and threw it at Roman, but this time it didnât hit him. Sabrina stood up to
block it for her son.
She jumped forward, standing in front of Roman, and pointed at Granny Rebecca, âWho do you think you are, you old hag? If you dare touch a hair on his head, believe me, youâll regret it.â
Granny Rebecca no longer cared to listen to anyone. She glared at the man who once hurt Nelly, âYou bastard. What you did to Nelly is in the past, and I wonât hold it against you. But you, you shameless man, after all these years, youâre still trying to stir up trouble and smear her name.â
