Chapter 721
Granny Luisa said, âI ainât tryna criticize Cornelia or nothing, why you all uptight?â
Marcus asked, âWell, what are you trying to say?â
Granny Luisa said, âYou have a seat first. Youâre so tall, I gotta tilt my head up to look at you, and itâs tiring.â
Marcus pulled up a chair and sat next to Granny Luisa, âPlease go ahead, granny.â
Granny Luisa said, âI just wanna know, besides being committed to your marriage, is there anything else between you and Cornelia?â
Marcus asked, âIsnât being committed to the marriage the right thing?â
Granny Luisa paused, then said, âSure, ainât nothing wrong with that. But seeing you two being so compatible, I wish thereâs more to it. I hope youâre together because you love each other, not just for the sake of the marriage.â
This struck a chord with Marcus. Grannyâs thoughts were eerily in sync with his. He was
starting to feel something different towards Cornelia. He hoped Cornelia was with him not just because of duty.
Heâd always been good at keeping a poker face. Even when his true thoughts were exposed, he simply responded, âIâll try my best, granny.â
Granny Luisa couldnât see his inner turmoil, and she sighed, âThis is the first time Cornelia has come to our house. She might be scared all by herself. Go keep her company. Iâm tired too, gonna hit the sack.â
Marcus said, âAlright.â
When Marcus got back to the room, Cornelia had already showered, changed into her Shimmer Club PJs, and was on the phone.
She was jotting down notes while on the phone. She was so absorbed in it, and she didnât even notice him coming in.
She said to the person on the phone, âYes, I got 250,000 before, gonna make a fortune selling Marcusâ photos tonight. Plus, Granny Luisa gave me an unlimited credit card, a villa, two luxury apartments, and some shops and stuff. I did a rough calculation, all these properties worth at least ten million.â
Abigail said, âYouâre so clueless, just the two luxury apartments alone are worth a trillion. And that seaâview villa.â
Cornelia said, âLooks like Iâm a bona fide billionaire now.â
Abigail said, âYouâre so rich now, I canât even compete. Iâm afraid you might not recognize me
when we bump into each other.â
Cornelia laughed, âWho are you again? Why am I on the phone with you?â
Abigail said, âIf you dare to forget about me, I swear Iâll drop dead.â
Cornelia happily said, âHow could I forget you? You and Zack are my best friends. I wonât ever forget you guys. Donât worry, when I make money, Iâll make sure you guys do too. Weâve always said since we were kids, weâre gonna get rich together, live the high life, drive fancy carsâ¦â
Abigail said, âYou have no idea how thrilled I am right now. Iâve been dreaming of my friends getting rich so they can take care of me. I can just sit back and relax. I thought it would take a while, but it came so soon.â
