Chapter 719
Before knowing he was her husband, Cornelia had never observed Marcus this closely, let alone directly stared at him.
Now seeing him so up close, she couldnât even make out the pores on his face. His thick, long eyelashes under his silver glasses particularly caught her attention, making her feel that he was even better looking than she had ever seen him before.
Marcus set down his juice, stretched out his long arm, and gently held her head. He pushed her towards him and lightly kissed her.
His kiss was soft. Cornelia turned her head away, âI donât want to kiss anymore⦠my lip injury hasnât healed. If it swells again, Abby will make fun of me tomorrow.â
Marcus cupped her face, gently rubbing her lips with his fingertip, whispering, âMm. Then donât provoke me.â
Cornelia blushed at his words, âWhen did I provoke you?â
Marcus said, âYou just complimented me on my looks.â
Cornelia pouted and muttered, âItâs not right to call others ugly, but is it also wrong to compliment you for being handsome? So everyone who says youâre handsome is provoking you?â
Marcus said, âItâs not the same.â
Cornelia asked, âWhatâs different? Whatâs not the same? Isnât it all just complimenting you?â
Marcus said, âThe context is different. Youâre the only one in the bedroom, being this close to me, and talking to me like that.â
He had a point; it did sound a bit flirtatious in this context.
Cornelia said, âThen I⦠then laterâ¦â
Seeing her blushing and stuttering because of him, Marcus felt delighted, âYouâre also very pretty.â
Cornelia said, âYou donât need to tell me. I know Iâm pretty.â
Marcus chuckled at her words.
His Cornelia was just too cute, cute enough to make him want to gobble her up.
Cornelia said, âNo laughing, finish your juice.â
He laughed, âOkay.â
Not long after, Marcus finished his juice. Cornelia instinctively reached out to take the empty cup, still remembering her role as his assistant.
Chapter 719
Marcus didnât pass it to her, âYou go and shower, Iâll take this downstairs.â
Cornelia said, âOkay then.â
Reaching the door, Marcus turned back and said, âThere are pajamas prepared for you in the cloakroom, theyâre all new and washed. Pick whichever you like.â
Cornelia obediently nodded, âGot it.â
The three people âplotting loudlyâ in the dining room tensed up at Marcusâ arrival. They eyed him warily, âWhy are you down here?â
Marcus placed the spice pouch prepared by Granny Luisa and the recording pen prepared by Briana on the table. Before he even did anything, Briana jumped in fright.
She immediately hid behind Granny Luisa, âGrandma, you have to protect me, donât let my brother take me away!â
Granny Luisa shielded Briana behind her, âMarc, I did all these things. If you want to blame someone, blame me.â
âWhat are you two up to?â Marcus glanced at Granny Rebecca instinctively, worried she might get the wrong impression of him due to these two and be reluctant to entrust Cornelia to him.
