Chapter 624
âMr. Wilson, Mr. Ryan, we didnât grab a bite at the banquet How about we go grab something now?â Cornelia suggested, leading the way with Leonardo and Pyan in tow
As they walked, Cornelia had the nagging feeling that she was being watched Following her instincts, she saw Natalia looking at her with longing as if she had a lot to say
but couldnât find the words.
Cornelia didnât dare approach Natalia The Reese family were currently mad as a hornet at her. If she were to approach Natalia now, who knew what they might do to the poor girl after she left
All she could do was pretend she hadnât seen Natalia and sent her a WhatsApp message. âI know you were forced into todayâs mess. I donât blame you. If youâre up for it, I can still hook you up with a jobâ
That was all Comelia could do for her
Looking back, Leonardo commented, âThe Reeseâs might not be rolling out the red carpet for us anymoreâ
Ryan scoffed. âYouâre thinking of coming back here?â
Leonardo sighed. âWe grew up together, didnât we? Cameron was like a brother to me. I thought we were all straight up with each other, but I guess..
Ryan cut him off. âYou must be blind. Iâve never been straight with him, and Marc wouldnât either.â
Leonardo retorted, âDonât rub it in. Any more and Iâll start questioning my intelligence.â
Cornelia reassured. âMr. Wilson, your intelligence is not the problem. If you hadnât gotten your hands on the CCTV footage, I wouldâve been in deep water.â
Leonardo grumbled, âDonât remind me. I went to get the footage thinking my status would help, but they wouldnât even let me see it.â
Cornelia queried. âSo the footage came from President Hartley?â
Before he could answer, Cornelia had already guessed. Leonardo was clearly displeased, âDo you think Marc can do anything?â
Cornelia nodded, âYesâ
Leonardo was taken aback, âCornelia, letâs cut ties! Pretend we donât know each other even if we run into each other.â
Comelia asked, âWhatâs wrong?â
Leonardo replied, âYouâve hurt me so much, and youâre asking me whatâs wrong?â
Cornelia protested. âI hurt you? How?â
Leonardo accused, âWhy did you instantly guess that Marc gave me the footage? Why is Marc so omnipotent in your eyes?â
Cornelia explained logically. âWho else could it be other than President Hartley? Is it shameful to lose to President Hartley, Mr. Wilson?â
Leonardo pondered, âI guess itâs not shameful How many people can even compete with President Hartley?â
Cornelia agreed. âExactly! So he gave you the footage, right?â
Leonardo admitted, âNot only did Marc give me the footage, but he also told me what to say. The Reese family admitting their plot was also because of Marc.â
Cornelia knew that the sudden turn of events was all thanks to Marcus. But she wasnât sure how much Marcus had done for her behind the scenes.
Maybe Marcus had done much more for her than she realized. The better he treated her, the more she didnât know how to face him.
By the time they finished their conversation, they had already left the mansion and reached the front gate.
A conspicuous car was parked at the gate
Marcus, tall and straight, was standing by the car, seemingly waiting for someone. And it looked like he had been waiting for a while.
