Chapter 565
Cornelia didnât reply, and Jeremy sent a few more messages in a row âCornelia, you promised me once. Donât go back on your wordâ
âCornelia, respond to meâ
âCornelia, you once said you would never leave me, are you going back on that too?â
Cornelia was soft hearted, especially towards Jeremy But when she remembered that he was actually Marcus, who wasnât as helpless as he pretended to be, she began to
hesitate
After a while, Cornelia moved her fingers and started to respond, âHold your horses. Let me gather my thoughts, then we can chat.â
Jeremy replied, âIf thereâs anything bothering you, you can tell me. Maybe I can help.â
Cornelia said, âNo needâ
After replying. Cornelia tossed her phone aside, not wanting to chat anymore.
She was used to her superiorâsubordinate relationship with Marcus and wasnât ready to accept that he was her husband.
Moreover, she had yet to figure out what exactly happened between him and Natalia that day.
Lunch was ready by midday.
Cornelia packed two lunch boxes and was ready to go to the hospital. When she opened the door, she ran into the gloomyâlooking Abigail and Zack. âWhatâs up with you guys?â
Abigail and Zack asked simultaneously, âWhy are you home? Did Marcus do anything to you?â
Cornelia responded, âWhat could he possibly do to me? Iâve been back for a while. Where did you guys go? It looks like you didnât sleep well last night.â
Zack and Abigail took a closer look at Cornelia and, not finding any injuries, finally relaxed.
Abigail said, âWe were worried about you going to see Marcus alone last night, so we waited for you in the parking lot. Later, a man in a suit took us to a rest area in the hospital, provided us with food and drink, but didnât allow us to look for you or wander around the hospital. We couldnât hold on any longer, so we came back to rest.â
Cornelia said. âThen you guys should rest. Donât worry about me, I can take care of myself.â
Zack saw the lunch boxes in her hand, âDid you make those for Marcus?â
Cornelia nodded, âYes.â
Zack asked, âAre you planning to stay with him?â
Cornelia said, âI havenât decided yet.â
Zack continued. âThen why are you still making food for him?â
Cornelia replied, âHe is my superior, and I am his assistant. This is also part of my job.â
Zack said, âYou shouldnât be like Abigail, only looking at the surface, not the essence. Seeing his good looks and forgetting how he deceived and betrayed you.â
Abigail intervened, âDonât drag me into this.â
Cornelia said, âI might have misunderstood him about that incident. Letâs not bring it up again.â
Zack contested. âYou saw it with your own eyes, how could it be false?â
Cornelia smiled, âWhat you see with your own eyes might not always be the truth.â
Zack agreed, âThatâs true.â
There were many people who saw Cornelia seducing a neighborâs husband with their own eyes, and caught by the manâs wife, but the truth was different.
Cornelia said, âI didnât expect you guys to be back, so I didnât prepare lunch for you. Just order takeout. Iâm heading to the hospital.â
Abigail replied, âDrive safe.â
Cornelia responded, âWill do.â
Cornelia rushed to the hospital, with Dr Lester greeting her at the door.
Seeing the two lunch boxes in her hand, Dr Lester grinned from ear to ear, âMs. Stewart, what delicious food did you prepare for Mare?â
Cornelia replied, âI made chicken soup and omelets, but Iâm not sure if heâll like them.â
Dr. Lester assured her âDonât worry Iâm sure heâll love whatever you make. He took a nap after you left and just woke up. You can take the food directly to his room. It would be best if you could watch him finish it.â
