Chapter 533
Abigail was tidying up, chatting away. âOur new place has got its own study, and the bookshelf is massive We wonât have any issues with storage for our books.â
Cornelia chimed in, âYeah, once we move in, we can just splurge on books. Lots and lots of books.â
Zack dropped in, 1 saw a rare book online the other day, and it was so good it had me drooling. Guess how much the seller was asking?â
Comelia and Abigail asked, âHow much?â
Zack held up a hand. âThis figure!â
Cornelia and Abigail asked, âFive thousand?â
Zack clutched his chest, âFifty thousand!â
Abigail exclaimed, âWhy doesnât he just rob a bank? Good books should be shared with people who can appreciate them. If they end up with someone who doesnât, isnât that just a waste?â
Comelia kept repeating. âFifty thousand? Fifty thousand? Thatâs pricier than the study I saw.â She thought of the study in Marcusâ Celestial Chateau. Clearly, not only was the construction cost high, but the rare books inside were worth a fortune
Abigail asked, âWhat are you talking about?â
Cornelia explained, âIâve seen one of Marcus studies. Itâs like a library, filled with rare books weâve never heard of. If each book is worth fifty thousand, then the books in his study could be worth millionsâ
Abigail was shocked, âOh my God!â
Cornelia added, âIf he ever lets me borrow his study, I might lock myself in there for months.â
Zack was frustrated, âWeâre nothing compared to these rich people. Even their books are better than ours. Heâs got all these rare books. Does he even read them? Or are they just for show?â
Comelia replied. âHe definitely reads them. I borrowed a rare book from him once, and there were some words I didnât understand. So I had to look at the footnotes. But he knew them all. Heâs like a walking encyclopedia.â
Abigail said, âCornelia, the more you say, the more I fancy your President Hartley. Even if I know Iâd vanish if I married him, Iâd still do it.â
Zack scoffed, âYou certainly have a unique set of values.â
Abigail retorted. âYouâre a guy, you wouldnât understand. But I can tell you. Imagine a man as handsome as Marcus, just his face and body are droolâworthy. Plus, heâs got a huge business empire, as well as vast knowledge. Such a man theoretically doesnât exist, he only exists in fiction. In reality, if a girl ever meets a man like this, how could she resist?â
Zack confidently said, âCornelia could resist.â
Abigail disagreed, âI donât think so! Cornelia thought Marcus looked familiar the first day she met him. Youâre saying Cornelia could resist? Cornelia is just married, and sheâs only a subordinate to Marcus, so she doesnât dare to have feelings for hire But that doesnât mean Comelia doesnât like Marcus.â
Zack turned to Cornelia, âIs that what you really think?â
Cornelia lifted her head from a pile of books, slowly saying, âZack, you guys understand men better, and we understand women better.â
Zack asked. âReally? You really have feelings for Marcus?â
Cornelia replied, âNot exactly. Like you said, who wouldnât like a goodâlooking, wellâbuilt, rich, knowledgeable, and niceâvoiced guy? Of course, this kind of liking is like when we see male celebrities. Itâs merely admiration. Or to be more specific, we can look but not touch.â
But what Cornelia didnât say was that this was her previous thought. After witnessing something between Marcus and Natalia, she no longer thought of Marcus as an untouchable deity
Abigail highâfived Cornelia, âThatâs exactly it.â
After a pause, Abigail added, âBut if Marcus wanted to be with me, Iâd definitely say yes. Better yet, have a child. I hope I can have a son as handsome as him. Heâd definitely turn heads when I take him out.â
Zack was speechless.
Cornelia asked, âAbigail, do you really think so?â
Abigail replied, âHavenât you ever thought about it?â
