That woman started to insult Cornelia again, “Zack, you’re a young, successful stud. Why are you so smitten with Comelia? In the beginning, everyone blamed that girl and only a few of you stood up for her. Now look, all of you are bewitched by her and can’t tell right from wrong; all you think about is money.”

Zack’s face suddenly turned cold, “If you dare say another word about Nelly, I won’t let you off.”

That woman, ‘Oh, so you’ve had relations with that girl too. What’s so charming about her that all you guys who’ve been with her are so obsessed?”

Zack slapped her hard across the face, “You can insult me, but if you dare slander Nelly, I will never let you off!”

She didn’t expect Zack to get physical. Her biggest fear isn’t the law, but people more ruthless than her. Zack looked menacing like he was ready to eat someone alive.

Zack closed in on her, coldly looking at the boy behind her, “I can throw this little guy off the building right now.”

She was so scared by Zack’s threat that her legs went weak. She truly believed Zack would throw her son off the building, “You, you…”

She grabbed her son and scampered off.

Zack closed the door, “Should’ve known that a slap is all it takes to deal with people like her. Why waste so much time arguing?”

He turned around to see Abigail wiping away tears; the more she wiped, the more they flowed, “Abby, you weren’t scared by that woman, were you?”

He hugged Abigail, “I’m here; don’t be scared. If she dares harass you again, tell me right away. I’ll deal with her.”

Abigail nodded, wiping away her tears, “Why did she have to insult Nelly? Nelly’s had it hard enough. Nelly’s in P City, not bothering them; why does she have to drag Nelly into this?”

Zack felt sad too, but he couldn’t change people’s views of Cornelia or stop the slander against her.

Abigail had another worry, “I can tell Nelly’s decided to be with Jeremy, but I’m scared.”

Zack knew what Abigail was worried about and he had the same worry. Of the three of them, Zack was the only male; he had to protect the girls when it mattered, “Abby, I can’t let anyone hurt Nelly again.”

Abigail, “I’m afraid Jeremy will abandon Nelly like that jerk did when he finds out about Nelly’s past. I’m afraid Nelly won’t be able to handle another blow.”

Zack thought for a moment then said, “When we get back to Riverton after New Year’s, we should try to get Jeremy’s contact info from Nelly and meet him to get a sense of his character for Nelly. If he’s not a man Nelly can trust for life, even if it causes a rift between Nelly and me, I’ll stop her from being with Jeremy.”

Abigail nodded firmly, “Let’s do it together.”

Zack said, “Okay, stop crying now; enjoy dinner with your mom and dad. We haven’t replied to Nelly’s blessing message yet, so she’ll definitely contact us through video call. Don’t let her see anything.”

“Got it.” Abigail nodded. Her phone in her pocket rang, and no doubt, it was a video call from Nelly.
