Chapter 218
Comelia said, âIâm not quick to trust people, but once I choose to, I go all in. I fully trust every word you say now, I hope you can prove youâre worth it.â
Marcus felt a bit awkward after reading this. When he found out she was his legal wife, he didnât immediately tell her who he was. It was like heâd planted a ticking time bomb for their relationship.
Now that sheâs starting to like this âJeremyâ persona, if he tells her now that Jeremy and Marcus are same person, she might not be
able to take it.
After thinking for a bit, he replied, âAs long as you trust me, I genuinely want to live a happy life with you.â
Comelia replied, âGot it. Iâm gonna take a shower and go to bed, goodnight!â
Jeremy replied, âgood night.â
Sure enough, the next moming Cornelia received the loan notice from the bank.
The sales department also informed them that they could come in on a workday to handle the paperwork.
With things being a bit slow at the company recently, Cornelia decided to ask Marcus for a half day off, âPresident Hartley, Iâd like to take a half day this afternoon.â
Marcus asked, âWhatâs up?â
Cornelia answered, âThe loan for my house has been approved, I want to get a jump on the paperwork.â
Marcus glanced at his watch, âI was planning to do the same, want to go together?â
Cornelia didnât object, âSure.â
Marcus didnât call his driver, so by default, Cornelia became his chauffeur.
In the car, Marcus casually asked, âHow do you like driving this car?â
Cornelia answered, âPretty good.â
That ended the conversation. Marcus didnât know what else to talk about, so they drove in silence.
As they were nearing the sales office, Cornelia asked a question sheâd been meaning to, âPresident Hartley, you already have so many properties, why would you want to buy here?â
Marcus chuckled, giving her an answer she didnât see coming, âBecause my wife likes this complex.â
Cornelia asked, âHave you and your wife made up?â
âYeah, weâve been getting along pretty well.â Cornelia being willing to give Jeremy a chance, to chat with him, even bought him a pair of sneakers, it was a sign of their improving relationship.
This morning, heâd jogged happily around the villa in the shoes sheâd given him, even thought about wearing them to work.
Hearing that theyâd made up, Cornelia was genuinely happy for them, âPresident Hartley, congrats!â
Marcus smiled but didnât say anything.
Cornelia parked the car and they walked towards the sales office. To avoid any misunderstanding, Cornelia stopped at the entrance, âPresident Hartley, you go ahead, I have to wait for my friends and the designer.â
Marcus nodded, walked a bit, then turned back to ask, âDid you get a professional to inspect the house?â
This was Corneliaâs first time buying a house, she wasnât clear on a lot of the details, âWhatâs that?â
Marcus knew she was clueless about this, so heâd made arrangements in advance, âThe houses in this complex are all fully furnished, the wiring, plumbing and stuff need to be checked. Itâs a bit complex, Iâve already got someone on it, Iâll have him come over later to inspect your house too.â
