Chapter 1420
She wanted to say something but noticed Stevenâs concern for Hannah. She trusted he wouldnât harm Hannah.
She stepped out and closed the door behind her, giving them privacy for their conversation. She turned around and bumped into someone. She knew who it was without looking, âLetâs go. Iâll accompany you for your therapy session.â
âOkay.â Jeremy said as he reached out to hold Cornellaâs hand. âCornelia.â
Cornelia answered. âMm?â
âI want to thank you.â Jeremy said.
Cornelia looked up at him and smiled, âWhat are you thanking me for?â
âI want to thank you for not forgetting me.â Jeremy said.
Cornelia suddenly tensed up, releasing Jeremyâs hand, âDoes Steven know Hannah canât remember him?â
Jeremy pulled her back, âLet them figure it out. Now, youâre coming with me for therapy.â
Cornelia asked, âOkay. Can you feel your arm yel?â
Jeremy said, âNot yet.â
Cornelia said, âDonât rush, we have plenty of time to recuperate.â
Jeremy nodded. âOkay.â
In the hospital room.
Stevenâs expression darkened when Hannah mentioned that she wanted to marry Jarvis. But when he saw the innocence in her eyes, his gloominess faded. He sat beside her bed, saying, âYou just woke up. Iâll call the doctor to check on you.â
Hannah stared at him wide-eyed like he was a stranger. Seeing her like this made Stevenâs heart hurt. He feigned a casual smile and said, âHannah, are you looking at me like this because you donât recognize me?â
He reached out to pat her head. But before his hand could touch her, she dodged, âAre you Steven?â
Hearing his name from her made him feel slightly better, âYes, Iâm Steven.â
Hannah frowned, âI donât like that name. It makes me uncomfortable.â
She asked, âWhatâs our relationship? Nelly said youâve been by my side for a month, but I donât know you at all. Why did you stay?â
These words hurt him more than when she asked him why he wasnât there for her. He wished she would yell at him or hit him, anything but this. âHannah.â Steven murmured.
Hannah said, âWhy are you looking at me this way? I donât like it. Can you leave? I donât want my boyfriend to misunderstand.â
She didnât recognize him anymore.
This fact was like multiple arrows piercing Stevenâs heart. He struggled to ask, âYou really donât recognize me?â
Hannah said, âMy boyfriend is a jealous man, and he doesnât like me being close to strangers. If thereâs nothing else, can you leave now?â
