Chapter 1298
Hannan had racked her brains, thinking of anyone she knew who could confirm the news, but she was at a loss.
Then it hit her. She turned to the man at her side. âSteven, did you see the news about Marcus?â
Steven responded nonchalantly, âYeah, I saw itâ
Hannan asked, âHe was your good friend. Heâs gone now. Arenât you even a bit sad?â
Steven replied. If being sad could bring him back, Iâd be miserable. But it canât.â
Hannah was left speechless.
Steven continued. âAre you worried about how Cornelia will take the news of Marcusâ death?â
Hannah nodded.
Steven said, âThat womanâs got a heart as hard as a rock. She was the one who wanted a divorce from Marcus. Do you think someone like her would be upset about his death?â
Hannah retorted, âComella is a compassionate person. Sheâs not cold-blooded like you make her out to be.â
Steven tried to comfort her, âDonât worry about her. She wonât be affected by Marcusâ death. Sheâll be just fine.â
Hannah disagreed with Stevenâs view. She held her phone in her hand, wanting to call Cornelia to ask about the situation, but she didnât have the courage to dial
Meanwhile, Grandpa Augustine had also seen the news about Marcusâ death.
He was pacing nervously in his room, wondering whether he should tell Cornelia about it.
Comelia was in the study, writing a script.
She would always get distracted by her phone while writing, so she had deliberately left it outside. There was also no internet in the room.
She was still unaware of what had happened to Marcus.
After much thought, Grandpa Augustine went to the study, âCornelia, youâve been sitting all morning. You canât go on like this. Now that youâre pregnant, you need to exercise more.â
Comelia looked up at Grandpa Augustine and smiled, âGrandpa, donât worry. I set a timer. I get up and walk around every hour.â Grandpa Augustine said, âLetâs go have lunch then. I asked the chef to make your favorite dishes today.â
Upon hearing that she could eat her favorite food, Corneliaâs eyes lit up, âThank you, Grandpa!â
Ever since she found out she was pregnant, Grandpa Augustine had arranged for a special nutritionist to strictly control her diet.
It had been a while since she had eaten food she truly enjoyed.
While others felt miserable during pregnancy, Cornelia was different. She didnât know if it was because she was in good health, but she experienced almost no discomfort during her pregnancy, apart from feeling tired easily.
Abigail always said that the baby inside her must know she was having a tough time alone, so it was very understanding and didnât cause any trouble. A good little baby.
Hearing about the delicious food, Cornelia stopped working on her script.
She closed her notebook, âAll right, letâs go eat.â
Grandpa Augustine gently stroked her head, âCorneliaâ¦â
Cornelia asked, âGrandpa, is there something you want to say?â
Grandpa Augustine asked, âDo you really not have any feelings for Marcus anymore?â
Cornelia laughed, âGrandpa, what do I have to do to make you believe me? Do I need to swear an oath?â
Grandpa Augustine told her, âMarcus had an accident.â
Cornelia paused slightly, âWhat happened?â
Grandpa Augustine said, âLetâs eat first. Iâll tell you after we finish.â
Cornelia said, âGrandpa, itâs not fair to make someone curious and then not tell them.â
Grandpa Augustine said, âHeâ¦â
Cornelia said, âGrandpa, just say it. Whatever happened to him, itâs none of my business. Iâm just listening.â
Corneliaâs tone was calm, her expression normal. Seeing this, Grandpa Augustine thought that perhaps she really didnât care about Marcus
anymore.
After thinking for a while, he said, âMarcus is gone.â
