Chapter 1289
Lately, Cornelia has been dabbling in comic creation on the side, with the rest of her time dedicated to scripting The Hitched Chronicles.
Cornelia was a hardcore perfectionist when it comes to her work â if something didnât read smoothly or she was not completely satisfied, she wouldnât rest until it was fixed.
Back in the day while making comics, her constant revisions would often result in long breaks in updates, earning her some flak from her readers.
At first, the criticism would get her down, thinking no one understood her struggle. But after a while, she got used to it and even earned a rep in the community as someone seasoned. No matter who threw shade, she wouldnât let it get to her â as long as she was doing her thing, she was good.
Her smooth collaboration with Foriver Entertainment was thanks to their chill attitude they never put pressure on Cornelia,
The project manager from Foriver Entertainment was like, âTake your time. Write at your own pace until youâre happy with it.â
Of course, the ample creative time Foriver Entertainment gave Cornelia wasnât just for the sake of a good script. There was another major
reason.
That being, their preferred leading lady, Hannah Dixon, was still on vacation.
Hannah was taking a six-month break, after which she was scheduled to shoot a film her agent had lined up for her, which would take about three months.
So, from the start of Hannahâs vacation, it would be nine months before she could join the drama crew â assuming she agreed to the project.
With this in mind, Foriver Entertainment gave Cornelia nine months to complete the script.
The Story of Nesiona was a successful collaboration between Foriver Entertainment and Hannah, making them both a pretty penny. Naturally, both parties wanted to team up again.
When Foriver Entertainment sent out the invitation, Hannahâs agent gave a quick thumbs-up.
Now, the only step left, and the most crucial one was signing the contract.
Before signing, Hannah, who was traveling abroad, called Cornelia and asked her, âNelly, tell me straight, are you really the scriptwriter for The Hitched Chronicles? Or did they just bring you on as a figurehead?â
Laughing, Cornelia replied, âDo you really have that little faith in Foriver Entertainment? Youâve worked with them before, havenât you?â
Hannah retorted, âYouâve worked at big companies, been an executive assistant for years. How can you still be so naive? Let me tell you, trusting a businessman is like putting a juicy steak in front of a dog and expecting it not to eat it.â
With that, Cornelia had to agree, âI guess Iâm just too innocent.*
No wonder she was no match for Marcus, who could spin her around with a few words â Marcus was the biggest shark in the tank, after all.
Hannah assured her, âIf youâre really the scriptwriter, then I can sign the contract without any worries.â
Comelia confessed, âThis is my first time writing a script, and there are many things Iâm unsure about. I can hardly believe it myself, so why are you so confident in me?â
Hannah said, âBecause youâre the author. Youâve painstakingly created this work, so of course, youâd want the TV adaptation to be the best it can be.â
âHannah, you know me better than anyone else,â Cornelia said.
Hannah confirmed, âOf course, weâre BFFs after all.â
Cornelia asked, âWhen are you planning on coming back to Riverton?â
Hannah replied, âI was planning on returning at the end of the year and going straight back to my hometown for Christmas. But now Iâve changed my mind. I want to come back a month earlier to keep you company.â
Overjoyed, Cornelia said, âThatâs fantastic. You can give me some advice to help make the script even better.â
Hannah agreed, âOf course, thatâs not a problem. But Nelly, I have to warn you. Itâs not unheard of for the production team to change the scriptwriter after the shooting starts, or for investors to replace you with a ghostwriter. You always have to be on your guard.
You canât let your guard down just because someoneâs nice to you, and you certainly canât hand over your hard work to someone else just like that.
In our industry, things can get complicated. You have to be cautious. If thereâs anything you donât understand, donât hesitate to ask me.â
