Chapter 1219
Abigail said, âIâm pregnant now, and my boyfriend Trevor is all wound up about my belly showing, âcause we ainât hitched yet. He wants to whisk me back home and get hitched pronto, then weâll keep on with the wedding plans as before
Cornelia looked at Abigailâs belly She was less than three months pregnant and not showing one bit.
*Abigail, lying the knot is serious business, make sure youâve thought it throughâ Cornelia said.
Abigail responded with a smile, âMarriage is serious, thatâs what everyone tells me, but you ainât the one to preach. You were ballsy enough to marry a man youâd never met. You think Trevor is any less reliable than Marcus?â
Cornelia was left speechless
Abigail continued. âIâm just pulling your leg I made up my mind to stick with Trevor when we went to see his folks. They took a shine to me, and my folks are head over heels for Trevor We were gonna tie the knot sooner or later, so we might as well do it now and get it over with
Menâs words werenât worth a dime. Like those who might promise eternity with Cornelia one day and flirt with another woman the next.
Cornelia wanted to ask Abigail to mull it over, but she was afraid she might rain on her parade. So she only said, âAlright. If youâve made up your mind, go for it. Just make sure youâre happy.â
âIâll be happy Weâll be happy. By the way, has Marcus told you when you guys are having your doâover wedding?â Abigail asked.
A doâover wedding? Marcus never mentioned it. Cornelia didnât give a hoot about formalities, but she felt a pang of sadness at that moment. If he really loved someone, heâd want to throw a wedding with her, right?
Getting hitched legally only made his spouse in the eyes of the law. A wedding was introducing each other to family and friends, telling everyone they knew that they were hitched for life. Thinking about this, Cornelia gave a slight laugh, âMaybe Iâll have a wedding with someone else.â
Abigail thought Cornelia was joking and laughed, âHave you met a hunk whoâs hotter than Marcus?â
âNot yet, but who knows what the future holds Cornelia joked.
âYour hubby Marcus is a real catch. After having a man like him, how could anyone else compare?â Abigail was skeptical.
âSo maybe the reason Iâm into Marcus is because I havenât met anyone better. If I do, wouldnât I fall for him?â Cornelia asked.
Abigail joined in on the joke, âMaybe. But I doubt youâll find a man whoâs better than Marcus in every aspect
Cornelia just smiled and didnât reply.
Abigail brought the conversation back to the important stuff, âTomorrow, Trevor and I are going back to his hometown to get hitched. We might stay there a few days. Weâre moving our studio during that time, so if youâre free, come and lend a hand.â
âSure thing You go do your thing When youâre back, Iâll treat you to a meal.â Cornelia replied.
Abigail suggested, âThereâs a new restaurant that just opened on Freedom Avenue, nice ambience and the grubâs not bad. When Iâm back, letâs ask Zack and go thereâ
Cornelia agreed, âSure. Weâll ask your hubby Trevor to join. The four of us can go togetherâ
âIs Marcus not coming?â Abigail asked.
âHeâs tied up Cornelia responded nonchalantly
Abigail nodded understandingly. âRight As the leader of the Hartley Group, President Hartley must be swamped.â
âAbbyâ Cornelia said
Abigail responded, âHmm?â
