Chapter 1181
Before Marcus could even say a word, Cornelia started her rant. âSome meds can have huge side effects, and your old health conditions might flare up again under such circumstances, so you need to gradually adjust your medication. Once weâre back in Riverton, Iâll go and learn some stuff from Dr. Lester, so I can be in charge of preparing your medicine. All in all, health is the most important thing, you gotta take good care of yourself from now on, and you canât just ignore your health.â
In the middle of her rambling. Cornelia was pulled into a strong, warm, and masculine embrace. Then she heard Marcusâ deep, husky voice, âCorneliaâ¦â
He held her tight, repeating her name over and over again, as if he was engraving her name into his heart. Marcus was so strong that Cornelia had a hard time breathing, but she didnât struggle, âIâm here, Iâve always been here.â
Cornelia could vaguely sense Marcusâ unease, but she didnât know why he was uneasy.
She wanted to ask him, but the next moment, he let go of her, then held her face and gave her a quick peck, âI missed you.â
âHmph, I thought you wouldnât miss me.â Cornelia grabbed Marcusâ hand, gripping it tightly, âI missed you too! So much! I donât want to leave you anymore, wherever you go to work in the future, weâll always be together. Donât leave me alone at home, okay?â
âOkay.â Marcus said.
After getting his promise, Cornelia returned to his arms, hugging him tightly, âJeremy!â
âHmm?â Marcus responded.
Cornelia pouted, âIâm imitating you, why arenât you imitating my response?â
âWhat response?â Marcus knew what Cornelia wanted to hear, but he couldnât say it, as his current physical condition couldnât promise her that heâd always be around.
Oh well, she wouldnât hold it against him. Cornelia held Marcusâ hand, âItâs hot, letâs go inside and see Grandpa Augustine.â
But when she turned around, she saw Grandpa Augustine quietly watching them from the side.
Cornelia blushed, âGrandpa Augustine!â
Marcus smiled, âOld Augustine.â
Grandpa Augustine raised his cane and poked Marcusâ shoulder, âWhat did you call me?â
Cornelia quickly interjected, âYou should call him Grandpa Augustine.â
Marcus responded, âGrandpa Augustine.â
Only then was Grandpa Augustine satisfied, âThatâs more like it. Iâll be around for Nelly, so if you ever mistreat her, Iâll be the first one not to let you off.â
Cornelia complained, âGrandpa Augustine, you canât talk to Marc like that.â She had become very protective of Marcus and wouldnât accept anyone speaking ill of him. She truly had Marcusâ back.
Grandpa Augustine asked, âI canât even say that? Youâre protecting him like this. You know youâre gonna spoil him.â
Cornelia replied, âMarc is my husband, if I donât spoil him, should I let someone else do it?â
Grandpa Augustine couldnât argue with Cornelia, and could only turn to the silent Marcus, âYou gonna say something or what? You canât let your wife shield you all the time.â
Before Marcus could open his mouth, Cornelia interjected, âGrandpa Augustine, itâs really hot today, Iâve already chilled some milkshakes in the fridge to beat the heat. Iâll go serve a glass for each of you now.â
Grandpa Augustine immediately agreed, âAlright.â
Marcus simply responded with a âHmm.â
Cornelia immediately went inside and prepared a glass of cool milkshake for each of them.
Grandpa Augustine wasnât particularly fond of sweet milkshakes. However, out of deep love for Cornelia, he gulped it down.
As for the special summer milkshake, it was a Riverton specialty. Marcus had been drinking it since he was a kid, especially during the summer vacations when Granny Luisa would personally make it for him.
