Chapter 1124
She was imitating Emily, holding his face, smooching him a few times.
Emily giggled happily.
âDonât you think this is childish?â Brian suddenly appeared from beside some greenery a few steps away, looking at them with a disdainful face.
âWhatâs it to you if weâre childish?â Cornelia shot back.
Brian slowly walked towards them, staring at Cornelia, âI was gone for a bit and youâve turned into a different person. Was your gentleness and cuteness
before all an act?â
âYes, my previous gentleness was all an act. I did all these just to become a part of the Duran family and to get a share of the Duranâs wealth.â Cornelia retaliated.
Brian furrowed his eyebrows, âWhy are you so fierce all of a sudden? What happened?â
Seeing Cornelia didnât answer, Brian paused, then asked, âDid he bully you?â
âNo.â Cornelia shoved Emily into his arms.
Brian took Emily from her, âHeâs a bit oldâfashioned, sticks to status and sometimes speaks harshly. But donât mind it. Youâre Augustineâs granddaughter, as long as Augustine treats you well and likes you, thatâs all that matters.â
âI donât care!â Cornelia retorted and stormed off, not wanting to deal with arıyone from the Duran family at the moment.
âWhat happened just now?â Brian asked Emily who was in his arms.
âAlfredo said a lot to her, all about her grandma.â Emily replied.
âGet to the point.â Brian urged.
âIf I heard correctly, sheâs Augustineâs biological granddaughter. Emily said.
âWhat?â Brian exclaimed and gave Emily an approving look, âWell done, keep it up. But donât tell anyone else about this, Iâll confirm it myself.â
âWhat about the thing you promised me?â Emily queried.
âDonât worry, I wonât disappoint you, you little clever clogs!â Brian assured.
âDonât call me a clever clogs!â Emily protested.
âYouâre a clever clogs, why canât I say it?â Brian teased.
âI wonât help you if you keep this up.â Emily threatened.
âAlright, I wonât say it.â Brian relented.
When Cornelia returned to her room, she didnât expect to find Marcus there. He was still dressed in a simple white shirt and black trousers, sitting elegantly on the single seater sofa, tablet in hand, seemingly reviewing some documents.
âWhereâve you been? He immediately looked up at her when he heard her.
âI want you to hold me. Cornelia walked towards him.
Marcus immediately pulled her into his arms, nuzzling her forehead with his chin, âTell me, who upset you?â
âWho said I was upset?â Cornelia buried her face in his chest, greedily snuggling into him, inhaling his pleasant scent.
Marcus bent down and gently kissed her soft lips, whispering. âYou come back wanting me to hold you, and your face full of hurt. Do I still need someone
else to tell me?â
âSomething happened, but itâs not like anyone bullied me.â Cornelia murmured.
âWhat happened? Can you tell me about it?â Marcus asked.
