Chapter 1073
Marcus said, âIâm fine.â
Marcus said he was okay, but Cornelia didnât buy it.
She wolfed down her food, âRegardless, I want Dr. Lester to check you out, just so can breathe easyâ
Marcus grabbed Comeliaâs hand, holding it tightly, âComella, I suddenly fancy a movie, would you join me?â
Comelia pulled out her phone. âLet me call Dr. Lester first. Once he gives you the green light, Iâd watch a million movies with you.â
Marcus knew Comelia was as stubborn as a mule, so he just nodded in agreement.
When they got home, Dr. Lester showed up in no time. Throughout the check up, Cornelia stood by Marcusâ side, her eyes filled with worry.
Marcus gave Dr. Lester a look and he immediately caught on, turning to Cornella, âComelia, Marcâs just got some minor issues. As long as he eats right and stays off the booze, heâll be just fine.â
Comelia said. âThatâs reassuringâ
Dr. Lester asked, âCould you fetch him a glass of water?â
Comelia said. âRight awayâ
As soon as Cornelia left, Dr. Lesterâs face fell He gripped Marcusâ wrist anxiously, âMarc, what on earth is wrong with you? Why is your pulse suddenly so slow?â
In all his years of practice, Dr. Lester had never seen anything like it. He freaked out
Marcus said, âIâll fill you in later. For now, we have to keep Comelia in the dark.â
Dr. Lester said, âMarc, your life is what matters most. Everything else is secondaryâ
Marcus scoffed, âYou think I donât want to live? But from the moment I was born, thereâs been someone who wished I hadnât made it into this world.â
Dr Lester got the hint, âWhat did Brennen do to you when you were little?â
Marcus didnât say anything, which was as good as a yes.
Dr. Lester cursed, âBastard! He really is a bastard! If he didnât want you, he shouldâve kept it in his pants. Now he has you and your sister, and he doesnât even like you guys. Why doesnât that bastard drop dead?â
Marcus said, âZip it! Comeliaâs comingâ
Just as he said that, Cornelia walked in, âDr. Lester, who were you swearing at? I heard it from outside.â
Dr. Lester was pretty chill, so if he was cussing someone out, they mustâve done something real nasty. He was fuming, âIâm talking about those bastards who canât control themselvesâ
Cornelia fell silent.
Marcus said, âIf you want to swear, do it at home. Iâm fine here. You can go
Dr. Lester wanted to say more, but Marcus told him to keep it from Cornelia, so he left. âIâm going. Remember what you said, or else Iâ¦â
Marcus gave him a cold look, âOr else what?â
Dr. Lester felt a chill, didnât dare to say another word, and left with his medical bag.
Cornelia took Dr. Lesterâs word for it. If he said Marcus was okay, she felt a bit more at ease. She handed Marcus a glass of water, âHere, have some water. After you finish, we can start the movie. Any favorites?â
Marcus didnât really care about the movie. He cared more about who he was watching it with, âAnythingâs fineâ
Cornelia said, âIâll set up the projector, and then we can pick a movie togetherâ
