âFor the sake of your mother, please do this one thing for me, Debra,â
Eduardo begged in a low voice.
âDonât worry.
I wonât do anything.
Iâm still your father.
â
After thinking about it for a while, I finally agreed.
I couldnât avoid him forever.
Maybe I could take this as an opportunity to figure out what he wanted.
But Caleb was worried about me, so he stood only a couple of meters away from us.
That way, if Eduardo made a move, he could rush over in the blink of an eye.
This gave me a great sense of safety.
As Eduardo led me away, I figured that he wanted to strike a deal with me about Roz Town.
So before he could say anything, I warned him and said, âNo matter what, as Long as Iâm alive, youâll never get Roz Town!â
But to my surprise, he didnât respond.
After a long silence, he suddenly lowered his head and said, âMy daughter, Iâm so sorry.
â
Debraâs POV:
An apology from Eduardo was the Last thing I expected.
He was a very proud man, and Iâd never seen him bow to anyone, let alone apologize.

I asked hesitantly, âWhy are you suddenly apologizing to me?â
Maybe I was being too vigilant, but I doubted that Eduardoâs apology was born out of guilt.
He looked at me, his eyes filled with something I had never seen before shame.
âTo be honest, Debra, on the way to Roz Town, I had an inkling that I mightâve wronged you in the past, but I didnât want to admit it.
But now I realize that I hurt you.
Iâm sorry, my daughter.
â
I didnât respond.
It was his own stupidity and stubbornness that made him lose everything, and only now did he begin to realize the damage he had caused.
But he had caused me indescribable pain, and a simple apology couldnât just erase it.
âSorry, but I canât forgive you,â I said expressionlessly.
Eduardo froze.
After a long while, he tried to ask, âCan I get a hug?
Just a quick hug, please.
â
I hesitated for a while but eventually nodded.
