Nora retorted with a sneer, âWhat choice did I have? Just because we are lowly mixed-blood witches, we should accept death and abuse quietly? Donât we have the right to think of revenge, to want to dismantle this corrupt and vile witch clan?â
âItâs absurd!â Andrew exclaimed in anger.
âThe witch clan is decayed.
Only a blind fool like you would serve that leader so devotedly.
Despite your loyalty, Shirley still tormented Debra as she pleased, didnât she?â Nora laughed bitterly at Andrew.
Andrewâs expression darkened.
I observed Andrew, noticing the veins throbbing on his forehead.
How much had Debra endured within the witch clan? What other horrors were kept from me?
Nora pressed on, âShirley even plotted to kill Debra because you Love her.
Your love has brought her nothing but misfortune.
A coward Like you canât protect her; you donât deserve her love.
â
Andrew grew visibly paler with each word, but Nora seemed intent on twisting the knife further.
Mockingly, she continued, âSuch a loser.
No wonder Debra left you without a second thought the moment Caleb arrived.
â
Calebâs POV:
Andrew was visibly unsettled by Noraâs rebuke.
It was the first time someone had told him that his love had caused Debraâs suffering within the witch clan.
He opened his mouth to respond, but no words came out.
After a long pause, Andrew asked helplessly, âEven if Iâm inadequate and couldnât keep Debra, how does that justify you poisoning Abby? You harmed a child because you think Iâm useless? And remember, Abbyâs mother saved your life.
â
Now that her secrets were out, Nora no longer felt any need to conceal her motives.
She sneered bitterly, âI came to your manor to get close to you and Debra, and then I began sharing how the leader had massacred mixed- blood witches.
I thought Debra, being a mixed-blood herself, would empathize with our plight and convince you to seek vengeance for the mixed-blood witches unjustly killed, and to obtain justice for us all.
â
Nora paused, her gaze hardening as she looked at Andrew.
âBut you proved to be ineffectual.
You couldnât keep Debra; she left your manor.
Realizing it was futile to expect you two to unite, I abandoned my initial plan.
I grew impatient.
To force you and the leader into conflict, I drugged Debra, hoping it would make her stay, but that failed too.
I didnât anticipate your cowardice.
Even after I drugged her, you still couldnât win her back.
I had no choice but to poison Abby and frame Shirley.
â
The truth left Andrew in shock.
He had seen brutal combat on battlefields, but the depths of a womanâs malice and cunning, as displayed by Nora, were far beyond anything heâd encountered in war.
Andrew looked at Nora with revulsion.
âA malicious woman like you deserves nothing less than death.
â
Unfazed, Nora retorted, âWhat does it matter? Everything I did was for revenge.
I just want to see the leader and her followers perish miserably!â
As Andrew prepared to speak again, I stopped him.
He looked at me, puzzled.
I frowned and said, âLetâs go.
We know the truth now, and thereâs no point wasting more time on her.
She betrayed Debra and brought this upon herself.
â
Andrew nodded, casting a cold glance at Nora.
Then he declared ruthlessly, âJust wait here for your final trial.
Your life will be a living hell.
â
Without another look, Andrew walked away.
