Then, Carlos suddenly asked, âCaleb, can you still feel the mind Link with Debra?â
I shook my head.
âNo.
If I couldnât see her face right in front of me, I might not have recognized her.
â
âThatâs odd.
â Carlos mused, propping his chin on his hand.
âDebraâs still alive, so why is the mind link gone? What exactly happened?â
I was confused too, âEven if Debra lost her memories, weâre still mates, so the mind Link shouldnât just disappear.
â
What had really happened?
What had Debra experienced without me knowing?
Noticing my troubled look, Carlos clapped me on the shoulder and offered some comfort.
âDonât worry too much.
At least we know Debra is alive.
Thereâs no need to be as concerned as you were before.
â
I just nodded quietly.
Contrary to what Carlos thought, I hadnât felt much anxiety or sadness about Debraâs disappearance recently.
However, after seeing her today and hearing that guy Andrew claim she was his fiancee, my once-numb heart began to ache a little.
My old feelings for Debra were stirring again, and Andrewâs declaration was starting to really bother me.
It felt like he was claiming someone I still cared about.
With a frown, I muttered unhappily, âSheâs alive, yes, but thereâs another man with her.
â
Carlos let out a sigh.
âYeah, Andrew does seem quite close to Debra.
Whatâs your plan now? Sheâs in a whole different situation, engaged to someone else.
How do you plan to bring her back, and what will you say to Elena and Dylan?â
The thought of the kids looking up at me with hopeful eyes only deepened my frustration.
Damn it! Why did everything have to get so complicated?
Calebâs POV:
After saying goodbye to Carlos, I made my way back to the villa, feeling exhausted.
As soon as I arrived, Alexandria came out to meet me, her voice laced with concern.
âAlpha, any news about Luna today?â
I thought about Debraâs situation, shook my head, and replied, âNo.
â
Then I expressed my gratitude to her.
âThanks for looking after my kids.
â
Normally, my mother would be the one taking care of the children, but she had been unwell lately and couldnât.
The servants were too timid to discipline them properly, and that had me worried.
Seeing my distress, Alexandria stepped in and offered to take care of the children so that I could go and search for Debra.
Carlos also chimed in with his support, saying Alexandria was great with children.
His words eased my concerns.
Grateful for her help, I thanked her again.
Alexandria just smiled and responded, âAlpha, you donât need to thank me.
Itâs part of my job as your secretary.
If I couldnât handle this, I might as well resign.
