The vampire was clearly plotting something again.
My eyes widened in alarm, but before I could warn him, the man reacted swiftly.
With a quick movement, he hurled the vampire into the air.
Bang!
The vampire crashed into a tree and slumped to the ground.
The vampire stood up, glaring at the man with fury.
âVampires and pureblood witches have
traditionally kept to themselves.
Why do you interfere with my feeding?â
The man looked at him and replied calmly, âA half-blood witch is still a witch and is not to be harmed by a vampire.
â
Taken aback, the vampire shouted, âDo you know who I am? I am Count Edward Quimby.
My status is noble.
Whatâs wrong with feeding on a half-blood witch?â
The manâs expression stayed neutral.
âThat does not concern me.
I am not a vampire, and your identity means nothing to me.
â
âf@ck!â The vampire was seething, fists clenched.
But before he could advance, the man warned him coldly, âIf you do not leave, I will be forced to take lethal action.
â
The vampire paused, then realizing he was outmatched, he left reluctantly, but not without throwing a menacing look my way.
âThis isnât over.
â
Despite my injuries and the pain, I couldnât resist responding defiantly, âIâll be waiting.
Once Iâm back to full strength, weâll see who suffers.
â
With a frustrated gesture, the vampire disappeared into the night.
The man then turned his attention back to me, concern in his eyes.
âWho are you, and how did you end up here?â
I tried to speak, but my breath became fainter, and darkness closed in around me.
Before I could answer, I lost consciousness.
Debraâs POV:
I couldnât tell how long I had been out.
It was like sinking into a deep abyss, heavy with pain and despair.
Darkness eventually enveloped everything.
In a haze, I thought I heard my name being called.
âDebra, wake up!â
âDebra!â
That voice, bright as a moonbeam slicing through the night, jolted me.
Who was it? Who was calling my name?
Driven by confusion, I mustered all my strength and slowly clawed my way back to consciousness, finally managing to open my eyes.
