Chapter 84
Had a more suitable supplier been found recently?
Had Sabrina been involved?
My guard was immediately up, and I asked deliberately, âWhen did they tell you that theyâd found another supplier?â
âThey contacted me a few days ago. I had already prepared the flowers for them, and I was planning to deliver them after we signed the contract. I donât know what happened over there, but they suddenly notified me to say that we wouldnât be working together anymore,â Selena muttered in irritation.
Then, she couldnât help but abuse Gordon once more..
Selena and Yvonne had already been angry at Gordon for how coldly he treated me over the past few years. That was their reason for always insulting him in my presence. I was used to it.
âWhen weâve had dinner, Iâll ask Gordon what happened. Donât worry,â I said, lowering my voice.
I had recommended Selena because I did not want Sabrina to use the flower delivery as an excuse to meet Gordon every day. That was why I had to prevent this from happening.
After I finished eating with Selena and Yvonne, I asked for a takeout box of pumpkin purée and foie grast from Whispers on the Wind. Then, I headed straight for the Holmes Group building.
I knew what Gordon liked. The pumpkin purée and foie gras were his favorite foods from the restaurant.
He was a regular there, too, and the reason that I used to go so often with my best friends was because. Iâd hoped to encounter him more often.
It was about four in the afternoon when I arrived at Holmes Group.
I got in the elevator and headed straight to the floor where Gordonâs office was. Coincidentally, his assistant, Landon, appeared at the elevator doors.
The moment Landon saw me, he looked as afraid of me as always.
âMrs. Holmes, Mr. Holmes is⦠Heâs in a meeting.â
I might have left Landon with a bad impression because of all the tantrums I used to throw in the past. That was why whenever he saw me, he would say that Gordon wasnât available out of habit.
I laughed and handed him a hazelnut latte.
âLandon, I remembered that you particularly like the hazelnut latte from Whispers on the Wind, so l brought one especially for you. Mr. Holmes is in his office, right? Donât worry. Iâm not here to make trouble. Iâm here to bring him food.â
I
Landon looked delighted when I gave him the hazelnut latte. Before he could react, I was already walking toward Gordonâs office.

âMrs. Holmes, wait-
He ran after me in alarm, but it did not affect me. I pushed open the door to Gordonâs office and immediately plastered a sweet smile on my face.
âGordon, are you busy? Iâm not disturbing you, am I?â
I very rarely addressed him so affectionately.
Gordon was sitting behind a large office desk. When he heard me, he raised his head instinctively. There
was a look of confusion in his dark eyes when he saw me. Then his lips twitched slightly, and he waved, indicating for Landon to leave.
He said impassively, âWhat brings you here?â
