Chapter 76
âAdmiring the moon is so boring. Come out and have some fun. Selena is here, too, Hector replied to my text promptly. He included a photo.
In the photo, he and Selena were singing at a bar with a bunch of people. Selena was dressed like a sexy. wild cat, and she was hugging a bottle of beer to herself while chugging it.
âIâm not going. Keep an eye on Selena and make sure sheâs safe.â
I was a little worried about Selena after seeing her in that state, so I responded very quickly.
âOkay. Donât worry,â Hector answered swiftly.
Gordon turned his head right when I closed my chat window with Hector. However, he had clearly caught a glimpse of it.
He looked rather displeased.
âDo the two of you chat often?â
âNot often. Just once in a while.â I answered truthfully.
âIâm going to repeat myselfâI donât want you to become too close to my friends,â he said suddenly, his voice lowering.
Hector and I werenât actually very close. I felt that we interacted like ordinary friends, and I couldnât understand why Gordon minded so much.
âLetâs just admire the moon in silence. This pie is pretty good. Have a taste.â
The moonlight was beautiful that night, and I did not want us to squabble over such a trivial matter. I took a bite of the pie.
Mom hadnât lied to me. This pumpkin pie was amazing, and the crust was perfect. It wasnât too rich, and it
tasted very sweet.
I was chewing when Gordon suddenly said, âDidnât you always say that you wanted to have a child? If you behave yourself, we can start preparing for pregnancy at the end of this year.â
I almost choked on my pie.
I hurriedly gulped down a few mouthfuls of water to calm myself down before I turned to look at him. I felt he was becoming increasingly difficult to understand.
Hadnât he told me just recently that I was dreaming if I was thinking of having a child?
What was wrong with him now? Why did he suddenly want to have a child with me?
âIâve changed my mind now. I want to focus on my career for the moment, and I donât want to consider having children right now,â I said to him.
Gordonâs expression darkened noticeably. He turned and looked at me sharply, with a note of disbelief in

his eyes.
âWhat on earth do you want now?â
âWhat do you mean?â
âI told you that we donât need to keep being so hostile with each other. Perhaps we can change the way. we interact and live in peace together.â
Gordon emphasized this again, and his tone sounded very sincere. It was as if he had really considered it
thoroughly.
I did not buy it.
I sat up and looked at him in confusion, then asked, âHow should we change the way we interact? Should we be like siblings? Then, can we
Gordon had just picked up a piece of cantaloupe. He hadnât even had time to chew before he almost choked on it because of what I had just said.
