Sheila took a glance at Davin, the big kid. He was grinning from ear to ear while having fun with the children.
He didnât stop the kids from calling me âAunt Sheilaâ this time. Is he implying that Iâm his fiancée?
Before this, it has always been me chasing after him. I have to remind myself not to do so anymore and let him woo me instead.
Sheila, bear this in mind!
âThatâs enough for now. Letâs go home. Weâre leaving this in your good hands, Sheep.â
âDonât worry.â
Whatever trick Susan has up her sleeves or games she wants to play, sheâll do it over my dead body!
Davin left with the four children, leaving the three in the room. Without further ado, Sheila took her jacket and bag with her and hurried to the door. âIâm going to check on Susan, bye.â
Her actions were so quick as if she were scared to deprive Nicole and Evan another second of their alone time together.
Ensuring that the door was shut, Evan approached Nicole and patted her head.
Taken aback, she asked, âI fell and injured myself, Iâm not having a fever. Why did you touch my head?â
He removed his hand and gently brushed her nose. âI see that youâre blushing, Iâm afraid that youâre down with a fever.â
Blushing? Am I?
She felt her face. It feels warm but Iâm definitely not having a fever.
âIâm okay, maybe the room temperature is too high. Could you open the windows, please?â
The corner of his lips turned upward as he walked to the windows.
She creased her forehead. âI asked for the windows to be opened. Why did you shut the curtains?â
Evan threw her a casual smile but ignored her question. After closing the curtains, he went to the door.
Curious, she asked again, âWhy did you lock the door?â
Click! He returned to the bed and fixed his gloomy eyes on her pale pallor.
âLetâs go on with some important matters.â His tone was deep and sexy.
Nicoleâs heart was thumping. With a sprained waist and a hanging arm, how can I do anything?
âNot now, Evan. My waist hurts. It really does.â
He pinched her chin. âJust work those lips.â
Then, he planted a deep kiss on her.
I miss this face so much.
Iâve dreamt of this feeling a million times.
Enveloped by the familiar scent, person, and heartbeat, he lost himself in that sweet moment he had been yearning for a long time.
She placed one of her arms around his neck. This is surreal.
Will it disappear like a dream?
I need to hug him for a little longer. Just a little while more.
âYou tired? Shall we change into another position?â
âShh.. keep quiet.â
In case this is a dream, I may lose everything once Iâm awake.
Nicole hugged him as tight as she could. Evan was thrilled to feel her passion again.
In an instant, the temperature in the room rose as they shared a moment of long-awaited affection with one another.
In another ward, Sheila stood there not knowing what to do when faced with an aggrieved Susan, who was grumbling and whining on the bed.
She would probably act up and be even more dramatic if I tried to calm her down. Therefore, Sheila decided to ignore her. She lay on the bed next to hers and started playing games on her phone.
Wiping off the tears on her face, Susan looked in Sheilaâs direction. âWhereâs Evan? I want to see him.â
âMr. Seet is busy. Let me know if you need anything.â
âMs. Muir, thank you for staying with me, but I miss Evan. I really want to see him.â Susanâs eyes welled up.
Sheila made up an excuse to coax her, âMr. Seet is as busy as a bee. Heâs having back-to-back meetings to clear a lot of agenda, from strategic planning to entertaining clients. You canât imagine his endless to-do list. Itâs best you stop crying and donât bother him. Mr. Seet doesnât have time for you.â
