âWhat have I done wrong? Are you talking aboutâ¦â Davin immediately grasped what his brother meant. âEvan, do you know what I went through to get the contract between the Seet Group and the Sun Corporation signed? It almost cost me my life!â
The mere thought of that encounter made Davin feel aggrieved as he grumbled bitterly to his brother. Fortunately, I didnât bring shame upon the Seet Group. Thatâs the one thing I can proudly show off to Evan.
âDo you think youâve done the right thing?â Evan asked in a cold voice.
âI know that stealing data isnât right. Although my approach was shabby and underhanded, the Sun Corporation had really crossed the line! They went back on their word and changed things as they pleased, putting us in a tight spot deliberately. Theyâre absolutely despicable! My action is justifiable. Iâve done nothing wrong!â Davin defended himself boldly in a loud voice.
âSo you really think youâve done nothing wrong at all?â Evan sniggered.
âYes. Evan, if you were in my shoes, I bet you wouldâve done the same thing too. Thereâs no way you would let the Sun Corporation pick on us!â
âOf course I wonât allow that. Yet, what youâve done is so wrong!â Evan emphasized his last sentence firmly. His tone was domineering.
âEvan, whatâs so wrong about that? What would you have done if you faced the same situation? Tell me, Iâm all ears.â
Right after Davin asked, Evanâs stern voice sounded.
âYouâve done wrong because you take your own life for granted! Even the entire Seet Group isnât as important as your life in my eyes, let alone a project. Donât you ever do such things again!â
Despite Evanâs reprimand and harsh tone, Davinâs heart swelled with a warm and fuzzy feeling. I never knew that Iâm so precious to him.
âEvan, you make me feel as if Iâve become as precious as gold. I feel like a big shot now.â
âYour life is priceless, just like everyone elseâs. No taking your life for granted anymore!â
âIâll keep that in mind, Evan. I promise you Iâll cherish my life from this moment on.â
âOne more thing, since you already knew that the Sun Corporation was unscrupulous and corrupted, you shouldâve stopped collaborating with them, even if we would suffer some losses. Besides, instead of using the stolen confidential data to threaten them to back down, you shouldâve exposed those data directly, so they would suffer great losses and learned a lesson.â
Davin pondered over his brotherâs words. What Evan just said really makes sense. Why didnât I think of this? Exposing the confidential data wouldâve caused the Sun Corporation to suffer a huge loss. Heâs indeed a brutal and merciless man.
âI got it, Evan. I wonât forget your words.â
âAlright. Is there anything else?â
âOh, yes, yes, there is.â Only then Davin remembered why he called Evan in the first place.
âEvan, howâs Nina?â
âSheâs alright. Why did you ask?â
Davin went on to tell his brother that Nina wanted to visit him in K Nation.
âWhat? Nina wants to visit you in K Nation?â Evan asked.
âI knew it. You really have no idea about this. I think Nina has a hidden agenda in wanting to come to K Nation. As her uncle, I shouldnât have sold her out, but⦠Evan, you know I got beaten up, so I canât be by her side all the time. If anything happens to her, I wonât be able to face you and Nicole then. After much thoughts, I feel itâs better that I inform you about this. Donât tell Nina that Iâm the one who told you this.â
âI understand.â
âThatâs good. Please discuss with Nicole whether you want to allow her to come to K Nation. Let me know after you decide. Jensen and Jeremy are here. They can protect her if she insists on coming over.â
âOkay.â
Hanging up the phone, Evanâs expression turned sullen.
Standing beside him, Nicole heard their conversation, and her face was sulky as well.
âNina obviously still canât get over Chris. Is she trying to look for him? Anyway, why didnât she mention this to us? Is she planning on leaving secretly?â
