Evan frowned when he heard that.
Maya stared wide-eyed at the two and asked, âIs she really that ugly?â
âYeah!â
âWe saw it with our own eyes!â
Maya still found it hard to believe. âDaddy looked ugly too when he was pretending to be Yoda, but thatâs just him with an ugly mask! What if thatâs the case with this woman as well?â
Juan and Nina went into deep thought upon hearing what Maya said.
âYouâre a genius, Maya! I was wondering why that woman didnât bother covering up her age spots with makeup. Maybe thatâs what she wanted us to see!â Nina exclaimed.
âWhoa⦠Sheâs smarter than we thought, but thatâs okay! Iâm sure sheâll eat the desserts you made her, Maya! What did you put in it, by the way?â Juan asked.
âLaxatives. That ought to give her really bad diarrhea!â Maya said with a smug grin on her face.
Evan was impressed at how the kids were able to see through Nicoleâs tricks, but the mention of the laxatives made his heart skip a beat.
Nicoleâs body is really weak right now. Thereâs no way sheâd be able to handle the laxatives!
He ran back up the stairs and hammered on the door.
Nicole felt somewhat uneasy at how urgent the knocking was and hesitated a bit before opening the door.
Evan went straight into her room without saying a word and looked around frantically. When his gaze then fell upon the half-eaten dessert, he quickly turned around and ordered, âSpit it out right this instant!â
Nicole stared at him in confusion. âI canât. I already swallowed it.â
âI donât care! Puke it up if you have to!â
What the hell is wrong with him? Why would he ask me to puke up something I just ate?
âWhy? Are you going to eat what I puke up? If so, Iâll do it!â Nicole shot back at him in annoyance.
Damn it, why wonât she just do as I say? Calm down, Evan⦠This isnât the time to argue with herâ¦
He took a deep breath and said, âMaya has spiked it with laxatives!â
Nicole was aghast.
Laxatives? Why would you do this to me, Maya? Are you trying to get at me because you think Iâm a homewrecker?
Before she could say anything, Evan continued, âThey saw through your disguise, Nicole! You canât fool them with that!â
âWhat? But I had them convinced earlierâ¦â Nicole eyed him suspiciously, wondering if he had ratted her out.
Evan noticed the strange look on her face and told her, âMaya guessed it based on how I disguised myself as Yoda back then.â
She guessed that without even seeing me? Oh, Maya⦠You never fail to surprise meâ¦
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through her abdomen, and Nicole ran straight into the toilet.
Looks like the laxatives are taking effect⦠She mustâve used some really strong onesâ¦
Evan called the family doctor immediately, who then arrived shortly after and hooked Nicole up to an IV drip.
The three kids headed upstairs to have a look at Nicole, but they were stopped by Kyle at the top of the stairs.
âWhat are you doing, Kyle?â
âThereâs something Daddy wants you all to do.â
âWhat is it?â
âHe wants you to clean up the leaves in the backyard.â
âDonât we have maids for that?â Nina protested.
