“Why do you think that I will even try to touch the baby who is currently in his mother’s womb?” Jennifer can’t help but ask, keeping the same usual expressions.

On the other hand, Hannah was still alarmed with everything going around them before muttering, “We all know, you lost your child...Jenifer, I know that you must be hurt and Lucas is the father of that child but....”

“Hannah.”

Taking her name, Jennifer kept the menu back on the table, before coming closer. She kept her hand on the table itself, with her eyes not tearing away from her best friend. “If you think that I can harm an innocent child then you are wrong. What child doesn’t even know what crime his father has committed.”

“How can I make that child accountable for something he hasn’t even done? I’m sorry, but I’m not so cold-hearted, unlike Lucas.” Jennifer blurted her intentions without hiding.

In her eyes, if she has lost her child, she could imagine how badly Seren will be hurt if she loses it, even though she is using the same baby as bait to get entry into the Smith family.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om

As a woman, it was beyond her morals and she will never stoop so low just to get her revenge.

Hearing her words, Hannah was very much relieved. She knew that Jennifer isn’t any harsh person, despite her making it seem that she is very cold-hearted.

“I’m glad that you aren’t taking the child into this. But how are you going to stop Lucas and take your revenge? Your ways are messy, Jennifer..”

“I know what to do. And the plan is already in action, so don’t worry about the same..” Jennifer mumbled under her breath before the waiter came to their table to serve the meals which they had ordered.

Taking the respective meals in their plates and bowls, Jennifer rolled her sleeves up to finally use the knife and the fork to cut the meal and place it into her mouth. But in the middle of the same, it was Hannah who dropped another bomb on her head.

“Jennifer...I will need to leave the country for a few days..” As the words rolled out from Hannah’s mouth, Jennifer raised her eyelid with evident shock. “What happened? Is everyone alright?!”

“Everything is good. Just my boss...well, he asked me to fly down to the office space. There is a meeting which I need to attend personally, so I will be leaving after having this meal with you.”

Hannah’s departure came as a long shock into Jennifer’s eyes. But there was no way that she was going to let her stay. She has already passed many things all because of her work. Not anymore since she does have a life of hers too..

At last, sorrow had already covered Jennifer’s heart but she still maintained the fake grin to answer, “It’s alright..you have stayed with me for so long already..”

“Don’t worry, I will be returning back very soon after I sought out things there,” Hannah assured her, which was like any other silk on Jennifer’s heart.

Keeping her head low, Jennifer and Hannah ate their respective meals while conversing a bit. The sadness of parting away wasn’t easily faded either.

Soon after, when they were all done, after paying the bill, Jennifer had traveled with her to the airport.

Bidding Hannah goodbye, for now, she had smiled at the lady. Standing at a certain distance from Hannah, a faint smile had curved on her lips, as she realized how hard Hannah actually lived for her..it wasn’t easy either...

But she had no right to hold her back since their lives were different. ‘You will return soon, Hannah..I will miss you so much..’ controlling her tears, Jennifer took a cab to once again go back to her home.

Throughout the journey, Jennifer hadn’t muttered a single word. In a similar way, she had booked a taxi for herself which drew her towards her home.

Getting out, she straightaway was interested in going up to her room, but before that, what caught her eyes was her baby brother, Emir, who was at the same time coming out from the house.

“Oh Hello, big sister!” His words made Jennifer roll her eyes to pass him the lazy expressions. “What is this? You are greeting me, I think the sun has actually risen today from the west.”

“Sun has risen from where it should. I just stopped by to know that your dear fiance made anyone else pregnant! Is this true?” Emir asked about the evident disbelief.

But in the same tone, there was the tinge of sarcasticness mixed in.

He wasn’t a simple guy either. All his love for her turned into deep jealousy when he heard that she was going abroad for further studies, and in the end, he wasn’t able to have the same lifestyle. But the education never changed the fact that he will be the only one who will manage their business, after all, the son was supposed to take up the business as per what her father says.

Without tearing her eyes off, Jennifer simply brought a faint smirk on her face and blinked her eyes twice, “I think you are interested in my personal affair rather than attending your college. Is this true?”

“I was just worried about you.”

“Don’t be worried. I will handle this mess on my own, so go back to where you were going.” With these as her last words, and keeping the same attitude, Jennifer immediately walked ahead to enter the house.

Inside the house, after closing the door, all she needed was the emptiness. ‘Why is this house so silent, isn’t it?’ Nevertheless, it only made her mind be at peace that she won’t need to answer tons of questions that might be raised by her parents.

Following the lead of the staircase, she went upstairs without making any further noise and was all ready to straightaway walk to her own room with her carefree attitude, until the words of her mother entered into her ears.

“Jennifer isn’t trusting us anymore. If she goes out to find the truth, how do we hide it from her?”
