Chapter 50 Millyâs Fall from Grace 1
Stephanie returned to her room and dialled a number on her phone.

After two busy tones, the phone was answered, and a deep, magnetic voice filled with indulgence came from the other end. âHello, is this Stephanie? Why did you suddenly call me?â
Stephanie immediately began to complain with a pitiful tone. âSob sob. Matthew. Jordan and Anthony bullied me. They donât love me anymore. Iâm so sadâ¦.
The person on the other end of the phone was Matthew, the second son of the Burnetts.
He was currently the top disciple of a wellâknown designer in the country and a member of the influential design team âOne.â He had won numerous domestic and international awards for fashion and styling design, earning him the title of the true fashion darlingâ
âHmm? Whatâs going on?â Hearing her complaints, Matthew was momentarily taken aback. âIsnât Jordan always spoils you the most? How could he possibly bully you?â
At this point. Stephanieâs eyes were resentful, and she gritted her teeth. âItâs all because of Milly!â
Matthew was momentarily confused when he heard this name. âMilly?â
Only then did Stephanie realise her tone was wrong and quickly corrected herself. âNo⦠I mean, itâs our sister. Matthew, you forgot? Her name is Milly.
Matthew finally clicked on to what she was saying.
Yes, that longâlost sister who had recently been brought back into the fold by the family seemed to go by that name. No wonder it sounded so familiar. He had been holed up in his studio working on his projects for the past few days. Since the return of that sister, he hadnât laid eyes on her even once, so he had no clue what she looked like.
He heard Stephanie complaining to him with grievances, and he roughly guessed that there must have. been many changes at home because of the return of this younger sister. That soâcalled sister seemed to possess a talent for stirring up trouble. She had just returned, but even Jordanâs upright character seemed softened. It must be hard for Stephanie.
He suddenly felt a bit disgusted with the unfamiliar Milly.
He couldnât help but comfort Stephanie, âStephanie, donât be sad. Jordan and Anthony donât have good judgment of people. Itâs their fault. I will always stand by your side.â
Seeing that her goal was achieved, Stephanie immediately smiled and acted coy. âThank you, Matthew. I knew you were the best!â
Hearing her tone improve, Matthew also felt relieved, and his tone softened. âCalling me just for this? Do you need me to help you with something?â
âMatthew, you are brilliant. I do need a little favour from you. Can you give me a stunning ballet costume?â
After that, she briefly mentioned the schoolâs ballet dancer audition to Matthew. Upon hearing this, Matthew immediately agreed. âOf course! I will give you the most gorgeous dance costume to dazzle the
audience!â

Matthew hung up, sighed deeply, and rubbed his furrowed brow. He had delicate eyebrows, a high nose, and amber eyes with a cold and noble air.
But such a handsome man, at this moment, had dishevelled clothes, messy hair, and a hint of grey in his eyes, clearly caused by lack of rest and insomnia, surrounded by a lingering gloom.
At this moment, an assistantâlike person came in with a cup of coffee and placed it on his desk, looking worriedly. âStill no inspiration? The competition is only five days away, and we havenât come up with a decent outfit yet. This wonât do.
Matthew rubbed his hair, which was already a mess, even more so now. âOkay, I know. Iâm looking for inspiration.â
The assistant responded, âAll right, then. Thke your time to look for it. Iâll step out for now.â
âWait!â Matthew called after him. âCould you please fetch the âClear Breeze, Bright Moonâ dance costume for me?â
The assistant was surprised. âOh? That costume just won an award. Many big stars are vying to rent it. Who are you lending it to?â
âOh, my sister is auditioning. Itâs for her to use. Enough chatter, go and get it!â
Although the assistant was hesitant, he still didnât dare to refuse. âOkayâ
Upon learning that Matthew would help her, Stephanie felt much more at ease and confident in her ability to outshine Milly.
At that moment, a shortâhaired teacher approached her with a notebook and inquired, âYou must be Stephanie, correct? I am the teacher managing the auditorium. You signed up for the audition, didnât you?â
Stephanie nodded. âYes, Maâam.â
âWe must inquire about each auditioning studentâs stage effects requirements, such as dry ice for ambience or ribbons and bubbles. Since this audition is quite significant for the school, we will strive to fulfil each studentâs needs.

Stephanie nodded in understanding. âIâll go with ribbons, please.â
The teacher nodded and jotted it down in the notebook. âNoted. Best of luck with your audition.â
As she was about to depart, Stephanie suddenly recalled something and hastily called out to the teacher, âMaâam, I just remembered something. I have specific colour preferences for the ribbons. Um⦠how about this? Iâll write it down for you, and you can arrange the purchase accordingly.â
The teacher nodded and handed over the notebook. âOf course.â
Taking the notebook, Stephanie scanned the studentsâ names in Class A and immediately spotted Millyâs name. Beside her name, it read: Ribbon.
Haha, sheâs taking this seriously and trying to be the same with me.

She clenched her teeth, wrote two words, and then returned the notebook to the teacher with a smile. âThank you, Maâam.â
The teacher didnât think much of it, closed the notebook, and left. âYouâre welcome.
Stephanie narrowed her eyes, and a daring plan formed in her mind. Since Milly was overestimating herself and trying to be a swan like her, she would tarnish this swan completely in dirty black. Letâs see how she can still portray a pristine white swan.
Having performed numerous times in the auditorium before, she was very familiar with it. Switching the ribbons to ink at the backstage was a simple task for her.
Last time, that foolish Melanie failed to win the bet, allowing Milly to claim a victory and keep her unattractive side from the public. This time, with ink on her white dress, obscuring her protective big glasses frames, Iâm sure I can expose her unsightly appearance that looks like a monster! Then, she would genuinely be humiliated!
Milly, I wonder how youâll handle this situation!
