Jonathan lay in a state of semiâconsciousness, grappling with the reverberations of the impact and the resulting discomfort.
With haste. Milly inspected his legs, fearing the direst outcome.
Her anxiety dissolved as she discerned no signs of fractures, releasing a weighty exhale.
Despite the mishap, the culmination proved unexpectedly favourable.
At last able to ease her tension, Milly experienced a sensation akin to her bones disintegrating, her form quivering uncontrollably from the ache.
The emergency services promptly arrived, swiftly conveying Jonathan to the nearest medical facility.
Millyâs relief was palpable as she exhaled deeply.
Jonathan, engulfed in a daze, was lifted onto a stretcher, struggling to maintain coherence amidst the acute
agony.
Amidst the commotion, he caught a glimpse of a graceful silhouette amidst the crowdâs periphery, a pang of melancholy washing over him.
Even amidst the bustle and the physical distance, he discerned the anxiety etched in her gaze.
Attempting to articulate, a lump formed in his throat, rendering him speechless.
As consciousness dwindled, the figure gradually faded into the distanceâ¦
Though she had a starring role in Silent Sea, Milly didnât have a lot of scenes. Most of them were just the male leadâs flashbacks. Her scenes were done in one take, and they were seamless.
Two days were left until the wrapâup, She could go back and check her grades too.
As Joy watched Milly remove her makeup, she lamented, âTime sure goes by when you have fun. I thought itâd be longer, but now itâs over. I wanted it to go on.â
Milly patted the sweat off her face with a towel. Smiling, she said, âI didnât peg you for a workaholic. You can take the time off for some rest.
âBut then I wonât get to see you.â Joy pursed her lips.
âMr. Burnett only lets me work for you on this movie. When you sign with an agency, heâs going to reshuffle the team and swap me out for someone else,â
She knew this would happen sooner or later, so she didnât blame anyone.
Mr. Burnett only roped her in because he didnât have time to find better assistants back then.
When it was time, he would get a better and more experienced assistants for Milly.

Milly smiled. Gently, she said. âYou wonât be replaced. I have no plans to sign with any agencies just yet. Youâre still my assistant. I can still hire you even if I go into contract.â
And not like Iâm going to do it so soon.
Though she had started her first movie, she still had school to attend. Agencies werenât on her list until college graduation.
Once she signed up with an agency, sheâd be bound by a lot of rules. Even if she didnât want to do certain work, the agencyâs orders would be impossible to refuse.
Still, there were benefits for signing up with an agency. For example, gigs would be easier to get. The artiste would have a team to handle all kinds of errands for them.
Still, education came first. Agencies wouldnât be on her list until she was going to throw herself into the industry.
The reassurance didnât cheer Joy up. She sniffled. Knowing her place, she said, âForget it. Iâm not even at pro. I donât want to hold you back, Milly.â
âYouâre an assistant, not a manager.â Milly chuckled. âYou wonât hold me back. Donât think too much about it.â
Joy sighed. Letâs just wait for Mr. Burnettâs decision. But I heard rumours. Heâs going to set up an entertainment division in the company that will only have you as their exclusive artiste. The team will only serve you too.â
âWait, did Jordan really say that?â Milly exclaimed, her disbelief evident.
Is Jordan crazy? Creating a whole department just for me? Thatâs insane!
A fullâfledged entertainment company involves numerous departments requiring substantial investment. Itâs not something you can simplify.
Though she was confident in her future of snagging the best actress award, the initial investment needed. was near infinite.
With the Burnetts nearing bankruptcy, theyâre still pushing for this entertainment department. Isnât that just speeding up the familyâs downfall?
Joy hadnât expected Milly to react with both displeasure and concern. Puzzled, she asked, âMilly, why arenât you happy? This is good news, isnât it?â
Milly sighed. She knew it should be good news. Her brotherâs gesture was heartfelt, and she should. appreciate it.
But the complications were overwhelming, and the drawbacks seemed to overshadow the benefits. How could she rejoice when she foresaw impending disaster?
âForget it. I canât explain it right now. Iâll call my brother and find out.â
As she spoke, she reached for her phone, intending to dial his number.

Before she could make the call, a sudden commotion erupted outside, followed by a knock on their door.
âMs. Milly, are you in there?â
Joy hurriedly got up and opened the door to find a group of people waiting, with the production crew at the forefront, arixiously seeking entry.
Observing the bustling scene. Joy sensed trouble brewing.
Frowning, she asked, âWhatâs going on? Is there a problem?â
The stage manager swiftly addressed the situation, saying, âMs. Stephanie mentioned misplacing an expensive bracelet. Weâve combed through everywhere else without success. The only area remaining ist the lounge. Would it be alright if she came in to search?â
Upon hearing this, Joy felt an immediate urge to object, âMillyâs been filming nonâstop and hasnât returned. Plus, Iâve been with her the whole time and didnât see any bracelet.â
Undeterred, the stage manager persisted, âCould we still come in and have a look?â
Joy politely refused, âIâm sorry, the lounge has personal belongings. It wouldnât be appropriate for you to enter and search like this.â
The stage manager found himself in a dilemma, stammering, âBut I â¦
Just then, Stephanie, standing behind him, stepped forward, her usual innocent expression intact. âJoy, Iâm sorry to intrude, but that bracelet means a lot to me. It was a gift from Jonathan, and it holds immense sentimental value. Iâm truly upset that itâs gone missing.
âCan you understand the distress of losing something so dear?â
