Listening to the flattery on the video conference, which was completely out of context, made Millyâs nerves completely collapse. Her face turned bright red as she buried herself in her bed like an ostrich, hiding her head under the pillow.
This is too embarrassing!
Itâs more embarrassing than forgetting to zip up my pants at a concert!
George chuckled as he watched her bury her head in the pillow. He worried she might suffocate and quickly ended the video conference. George said, âAlright, thatâs all for the meeting. Report the details to my assistant, Mr. Jarvis,â
After he closed the tablet, he walked over to the bed, saying, âThe meetingâs over. You can get up now.â
Milly peeked out in grievance. After she confirmed the tablet was indeed closed, she looked at him with a mix of frustration and embarrassment,
âWhy didnât you
Ime you were in a meeting? I made a fool of myself because of you.â
This was the first time Milly showed such a vulnerable side in front of him, and George found it adorable. He liked this side of herâplayful and sweet.
âI didnât expect you to wake up so early. It wonât happen again,â George explained earnestly.
âThere wonât be a next time!â Milly huffed angrily. She glared at him and commanded, âNow get out of my room. I need to change!â
George didnât move. He kindly reminded her, âAre you sure this is your room?â
Milly glanced around. She was about to say something when she froze..
This⦠really isnât my room.
Although Jordan had booked me a nice hotel suite but it wasnât this luxurious. There arenât any large floorâtoâceiling windows or a lavish outdoor pool on the balcony.
âYou got drunk last night and wouldnât let me leave, so I had to bring you back to my place, George explained, seeing her shock.
Upon hearing this, Milly scowled, attempting to recall the details.
Drunk?
It seemed plausible.
But clinging to him and not letting him go? I donât believe it.
âAre you lying? I have a reputation for handling my liquor well.â
yâs confidence wavered as she said this, because she had never actually been drunk before and had no idea what she was like when intoxicated.

Even without knowing it, she was sure it couldnât be as dramatic as he described. Clinging to his sleeve and not letting go
Impossible!
She felt physically ill around men and nearly threw up just being near them. Milly had shown him a lot of respect by not throwing up directly in his face.
George saw her sceptical look and raised an eyebrow, as if anticipating this reaction. He pulled our his phone, opened the gallery, and said, âI knew youâd deny it when you woke up, so I purposely recorded a video to prove my innocence.â
He emphasised the word âpurposely.
The phone screen showed a clear video.
Her face was red. She was sitting upright on the bed and tightly gripping Georgeâs sleeve. She looked at him tearfully and pleaded, âYou canât leave. I donât want you to leave.â
In the video, Georgeâs wrist moved slightly as he tried to pull away. However, she widened her grew more agitated. She stood up, clutching his sleeve even tighter as tears streamed down her face. âYou
eyes and canât leave. Donât abandon me. You canât abandon me!â
Her gaze was like someone looking at a heartless scoundrel.
Milly was utterly stunned. Was that really me, the one that crying so pathetically!
Was I the shameless person who clung to Georgeâs arm?
George put away his phone and looked at her meaningfully. He asked, âYou have anything else to say?â
The video evidence was irrefutable. She had no choice but to believe it.
Milly rubbed her nose, feeling so embarrassed that she wanted to dig a hole and hide.
âHehe. I always knew Mr. Tate was a gentleman. You see, I guessed it right.
âMr. Tate, youâre so magnanimous. Donât hold it against a drunkard like me. Could you delete the video? After all, Iâm a public figure. If this gets out, how will I survive?â
This is so humiliating!
I couldnât think of any way to resolve the embarrassment.
And this video could fall in anybodyâs hands; why did this video have to be in Georgeâs hands? After she had been so mean to him, this man finally had leverage against her. He definitely wouldnât delete it.
Sure enough, George didnât directly respond. Instead, he stood up and headed for the door. His tone was vague. âLetâs eat first. Weâll talk about it after breakfast.â
Milly grumbled silently, âYouâre petty!â
She swore she would never touch alcohol again!
Never allow these evil capitalists another onnortunity to use it against her.

The hotel delivered them a light breakfast. After a hangover, her stomach felt like it was burning. The cereal was just what she needed.
After eating, Milly felt completely rejuvenated and full of energy.
She placed her spoon in the bowl. Her bright eyes eagerly watched George and said, âMr. Tate, Iâve finished cating.â
George responded coolly with a grunt. Then he stood up and urged, âGet ready: Iâll take you to the set.â
âWait!â Milly quickly stopped him.
âDidnât you say weâd talk about the video after breakfast? Iâve eaten. Can you delete it now?â
Milly looked at George with hopeful, pleading eyes.
George glanced down at her hopeful eyes, then sat back down on the couch. âAlright.â
Milly was surprised he would agree so easily. A wave of happiness surged through her, and her eyes lit up. reducing her usual resentment towards him.
âMr. Tate, I never expected you to be so considerate. Earlier, I failed to acknowledge your stature and made mistakes, but instead of holding it against me, you generously forgave my errors. My gratitude for you is immense, like an unending river. You truly embody the qualities of a modern leader.â
She buttered him up with compliments, her voice bright and clear.
Georgeâs expression didnât change. He handed her a glass of warm water to soothe her throat after her speech.
Iâm a businessman.â
Milly blinked, not understanding what being a businessman had to do with the video. She said, âI know,â
George smiled slightly and asked, âSo, what will you give me in exchange for deleting the video?â
Milly was taken aback.
Wow, he was really playing her.
Milly was furning-
She thought heâd changed for the better and was kind. But no, he was still just as cunning and merciless.
Capitalists will always be capitalists. Even if they evolved, theyâd become more evil capitalists, not philanthropists!
