Mason and I were in the kitchen setting up food and Claire sat in the living room choosing music on Mason's phone while we waited for Mel and Cam to turn up.

"Mason, why do you have the Wiggles on your phone..." called Claire as she wheeled herself over to us, a devious and scarily similar to Mason's smirk on her face. I snorted.

"Uh," Mason glared at Claire which only deepened her devious smile and looked at me with a shrug. "I don't know, probably just slipped on there I guess."

"What time did Mel says she'd be here?" Asked a crimson Mason, attempting the change the subject.

"She said she'd be as fast as she cou-" Mel's signature knock on the door interrupted us.

I opened the door to Mel holding up a bottle of wine and a bottle of champagne. Cameron stood behind her looking like Robin to Batman.

"I brought everything that could be needed for happiness or disaster. Why are we here?" She pushed her way through and I just laughed.

"You're here to celebrate." I closed the door behind them and Cam made his way over to Mason where they embraced in a bro hug. I looked around for Claire but noticed she'd disappeared, probably to her room to surprise them.

"Celebrate what?" She asked, turning towards me. She gasped and her eyes dropped to my stomach and back up to my eyes.

"Are you pregnant!?" She screeched and my jaw dropped to the floor

"What!? No! No, I'm not pregnant!" I shouted over her frantic squeals.

There was the crash of a glass smashing against the floor as Mason skidded, nearly falling over on the floorboards around the counter of the kitchen and towards me. His eyes were wide with panic and fear.

"You're pregnant?" He was horrified and reached for my shoulders looking down at my stomach frantically.

"Mel, I'm not pregnant! Mason, I'm not pregnant." Mel was still squealing and talking at a thousand miles an hour and Mason had his hands in his hair tugging roughly at the roots.

"How did this even happen? We are careful! Did you cheat on me?" Masons voice rose in volume and he started pacing back and forth in the room.

"And we can go baby shopping together! Omg, I know where they sell the cutest maternity clothes!" Continued Mel more so to Cameron now who was trying to shut her up by putting his hand over her mouth but she shoved him away as she spoke quickly and continued her squealing.

"Mason, I'm not pregnant! Mel, stop-"

"We've only done it a few ti- and you know how much I love- we were so caref- is it Lucas's? I'm going to kill him." Mason stormed out of my room and I had to chase after him.

What the hell was going on!? All I wanted to do was play monopoly and celebrate!

"Mason, stop!" I was holding tightly onto his arm as he continued walking, effectively dragging me across the floorboards, my fluffy socks providing no grip whatsoever.

"I'm going to kill him!"

"Mel, shut up and go to my room!" I yelled at her, still acting like a drag on Mason as he struggled to get to the door with me pulling on him.

"Mason, listen to me, I'm not pregnant."

His lips were in a tight line as he looked at me like he didn't believe any words coming from my mouth.

"I'm. Not. Pregnant. I can't be. It's physically impossible for me to be pregnant right now." I said, hoping he was getting my reference of birth control. His face softened a little and he stepped closer to me.

"You promise?"

"I promise." He deliberated before sighing and coming towards me, wrapping his arms tightly around me and kissing the top of my hair.

"Don't scare me like that." He breathed, and I could feel his heart beating frantically.

"It was Mel's fault." We stood in silence for a while and I couldn't help but think about how angry he was, should I have been insulted?

"Why were you so angry?" I pulled away and he watched me, obviously confused.

"Because I thought you were pregnant." His voice was described in the best way as, 'duh'.

Well, then. I crossed my arms over my chest and popped my hip.

"What's that supposed to mean?" I confronted. If I was pregnant what would he have done?

"Well obviously I'm going to be shocked if you're pregnant: we're in uni, and we can't afford a kid and I don't know if I-"

"But you were mad... you weren't shocked." I stated blankly, refusing to let any emotions show on my face.

"Look let's talk about this later, and just enjoy the fact that we've got our friends here and Claire." He stepped towards me, reaching up to touch my cheek but I moved away.

"Okay, we'll talk about it later. Mel! Get out here and help me set up monopoly."

Just after Mel and I finished setting up the game and Cam has brought over the food Mel asked me for the millionth time why we were celebrating.

"Because of this: hey! Special guest come out now!" I called towards my old room and out wheeled Claire with a massive smile on her face.

"Claire! No way!" Said Cam, striding over to her and giving her a tight hug.

"Mel, this is Claire, Mason's sister. Claire this is Mel, my best friend who I've known since our first year of high school." I introduced them to each other and noticed that they got along like a house on fire with Mel complementing Claire's shoes and the conversation of fashion barely ceasing even half way through the game.

I hardly acknowledged Mason the rest of the night but I could feel his worried eyes on me at multiple times.

"Babe, can you pass me the crisps?" He asked, putting his hand on my thigh under the table. I hated pet names but when he said them they sounded sexy and sent tingles up my spine.. unless that was the hand he was slowly dragging up my thigh until I swatted it away still unsure of how I felt about the situation we had recently been in.

"Why are you blushing? Are they spicy?" Asked Mel as she sniffed a corn chip and eyed my reddening face suspiciously.

"Hey Claire, remember when we put food colouring in your fish tank and all your fish turned green?" Snorted Cameron. I watched Claire's face in horror as she denied disapproval.

"Yes, my poor guppies turned into real life jelly sweets." She giggled with Cameron and Mason and I listen raptly at the rest of their childhood stories at which I found out were mainly mason trying to make the tense home situation better for Claire.

"Did you hear from dad the other day, Mason?" Asked Claire, causing me to drop the dice on the floor. He eyed me warily.

"No I haven't heard from him in year nor do I give a shit about his whereabouts." He said bluntly, occupying himself with his property cards and counting his money.

"He asked about you." She said plainly. I got the feeling that she had regular conversations with him given the way she was talking so calmly about him. Mason, however, had his ears glowing the colour of a Ferrari.

"Claire, enough." He said in a time that would shut an annoying wild goat up.

We waved Mel and Cam out the door at one o'clock when we noticed Claire was getting drowsy.

"Goodnight, Ashley, thank you again for letting me stay with you." She said sweetly and exhausted as Mason wheeled her to her room to put her in bed.

"Of course Claire, you're always welcome." I blew a kiss at her and made my way to my room when I began getting undressed.

Just as I was pulling one of Mason's tshirts over my head I felt two hand grip firmly on my hips and a pair of lips on my neck.

Feeling the flutter in my chest I leaned into him before remembering a pressing issue. I moved away and he sighed.

"What is it, Ash?" He asked, pulling his shirt and jeans off, standing there deliciously in his boxers. Focus, Ashley.

"Why did you get mad earlier? If I was pregnant it's not like it would be only my fault."

"It's no one's fault, but you aren't and you won't be so let's leave it." He crawled onto the bed and gestured for me to join him. I stood my ground.

"What do you mean I won't be? What like ever?" I asked, feeling a small part of me die on the inside at the prospect of what his words intended.

"Well, I dont know but certainly not now. Ash, we're in uni and Claire to deal with we can't have a baby. You're 19!" I stood and thought for a moment, rerunning the argument in my head.

"Yes but you said you weren't sure if you want kids... you do want kids don't you?" I bit my lip and kneeled on the bed beside where he was lying down.

"I don't know, I spose I always said I wouldn't because I didn't want to screw up like my parents did but... that was before I met you." He held my chin and gave me a small but genuine smile. "A lot has changed since I met you." He kissed me briefly and I decided to let the argument go - for now. I climbed into bed but left a small gap between us .

I sill don't know how I feel about the whole situation. He shouldn't get mad at me cause the last time I checked it took two people to make a baby.

"I love you, baby." He whispered in the darkness.

"You too."
