A gush of fresh cool morning wind entered the room where a couple snuggle into each other's warm embrace. There is a glow of peace on their face.
Preet slowly open her eyes while hiding more into the warmness that surround her. She blink few times to clear her view and getting rid of sleepiness.
Her eyes move upward slowly and her breath hitch looking at the breathtaking view in front of eyes. Her eyes stuck on his face who is looking so peaceful while sleeping.
Unknowingly her lips curve upward as she lovingly stare at him while silently adoring him.
She raise her hand to touch his face but stopped and her eyes widen when he suddenly opened his eyes lazily.
He blink few times while staring at her face then look at her hand which is still in the air. Preet notice his gaze and quickly move her hand down. This makes his lips curve slightly at her this act.
"Good morning," he said in his deep hoarse voice due to sleep.
"Umm...good morning..g" Preet replied while calming her fast heartbeat.
Veer smiled at her and nodded while removing her hair strand from her forehead and asked,
"Did you sleep well?"
Feeling care and concern in his tone, Preet nodded with a smile assuring him.
"I am good, don't worry." Veer nodded and sat up on the bed.
"You can rest while I shower then I will bring your breakfast here," hearing him she frown and said,
"Why here? I am absolutely fine. I will have breakfast with everyone and also I have to go restaurant,"
Veer stop as he was about to go inside the bathroom and turned toward her.
"Take rest for days then join your work. If you are feeling comfortable then we can have breakfast with everyone," he gently said. She pout sadly thinking about her work but still nodded unwillingly as he was just worried for her.
"Hmm okay," with this he went to freshen up and Preet stretch her limbs and sat up on the bed with a beautiful smile on her face.
"Chale?" Veer asked wearing his watch and look at Preet through the mirror.
She smile and nodded at him after fixing her dupatta on her shoulders.
As she step out of her room her foot slipped on the doormat making her stumble but Veer swift hold before she could fall.
"Careful Preet," he said steadying her on her feet. Preet nodded still in shock.
Veer hold her hand in his as they make their way to downstairs for breakfast.
Everyone was enjoying morning tea in the living room when Veer and Preet reached there.
They greet everyone and join them. Veer got busy with Rajveer discussing the business while Preet sat with Avni and Aarav.
Preet was assuring Avni and Aarav that she is fine now when a woman around her sixties, appeared in the living. She is looking elegant in a plain cotton saree with her grey hair tied neatly in a lower bun.
But something about her seems weird. Her face has an aura of arrogance and wickedness.
Although Veer's Dadi was always cold to her but somewhere she knew she is a good and down-to-earth woman.
Preet comes out to her thought when Urmila walks to her and said,
"Avni...Preet, meet her she is my mother, Sumitra Rao" Urmila introduced that woman to them standing beside her mother.
Avni smile at her and join her hands in Namaste,
"Namaste Nani ji," but instead of replying to her, Sumitra look at her daughter with an unhappy face and then look at Avni before nodding at her with a tight smile.
Preet also greet her and touched her feet to take her blessing. As she stand straight in front of her, Sumitra stare at her with judgemental.
"Badi bahu ho Rajvansh parivar ki tumhe pata hona chahiya bina saar pe pallu bado ke pair nhi chhute, " she taunt Preet with a smile then look at Damini.
Preet look down realizing her mistake but no one point out this before after her marriage.
"...per kehna padega Damini ji apki bahuye badi hi sunder h," Damini smiled slightly which seems forced and fake.
"Come on everyone and have your breakfast, Avni set up the breakfast for everyone," Damini said. Avni nodded and walked inside the kitchen.
Preet was about to follow her to help but Damini stopped her saying,
"She will manage, you don't have to do anything," Preet look at her with hurtful eyes at her rude behavior toward her.
"But Dadi..." She halt when Damini glare at her making her close her mouth and nodded at her.
"Let her do Damini ji. It's her responsibility and duty to serve her family and being an elder, Avni will learn only after looking at her. Also, Avni just got married let that child have some rest and enjoy the initial days of her marriage," Damini turn to her with a sharp look making her shut her mouth.
Aarav sighed in frustration look at his mother who was looking tense seeing Damini glare at her mother.
"Sumitra ji, this is my family and I know what I am doing, you don't have to worry about that. You are here as a guest to stay with your daughter so kindly stay peacefully and let us live in peace. I really appreciate it if you try not to involve in my family matters," Saying Damini went to dining room along with Veer and Aarav.
Preet also follow them behind.
Rajveer look at his wife and gesture her to control her mother before going to the dining room.
"Ma, what are doing? Why are you making me feel low in front of them,"Urmila hissed at her mother.
Sumitra look at Preet then Veer who was pulling a chair for her to sit.
"This will not do, Urmila. This is your place in this house, in your family's eyes, huh? I can't see my daughter being treated so badly like this," Sumitra said sadly.
"Ma, let it be," Urmila told her to which Sumitra shook her head at her daughter and said,
"No Urmi, don't be a fool. Didn't you see the past is repeating? Your daughter-in-law will have the same fate as you. Didn't you see like Naina rule used to ruled in this house, Preet will also enjoy the same ways. You and Avni will forever be a under Veer and Preet. Open your eyes Urmi before it's too late. I know about the will. It is not right. Veer maybe the elder son of the Rajvansh but Aarav is also a child of the same family and have equal right in everything as Veer. I am warning you, do something before everything slips from your hands and both Veer and Preet rule over Rajvansh's property leaving you and your son and daughter-in-law with nothing," Urmila's face turn pale imagining the scenario where her and his family has to beg in front of Veer and Preet.
She knows her husband and son both are blind in their brother's love. They won't mind even if Veer got everything leaving them without a single penny.
She look at her mother for a second before saying,
"What should I do Ma? I don't hate Veer and Preet, they are like my children but I can't sacrifice my son's future for them. I don't want Aarav and Avni to live their life like me and Rajveer. Dancing in the tone of his brother and this family. I had enough now," Tears appear in Urmila's eyes. Sumitra cup her cheek and look at her with a sad face.
"Don't cry, Urmi. I am here for you. I will make everything right, okay?" Sumitra said giving her an assured smile.
Urmila look at her with a grateful expression and nodded.
"Be strong, Urmi. Crying will not help you. Now first let's have our breakfast,"
Everyone was busy having their breakfast when they sat with them.
Sumitra look at Preet and Veer with envy and hatred as Preet was serving a paratha to Veer while he was trying to stop her. But seeing Preet pleading face he sigh and let her place the paratha in his plate.
She then turn to Urmila who is looking gloomy but trying to look normal in front of everyone. Sumitra gaze softens look at her daughter. Now she is determined to do anything for her daughter's happiness.
"I will make everything right for you,"
She promises to herself.
