Isidor stands silent as he waits for me to process the information heâs just given me. âYou are certain you saw them?â I ask him carefully.
â
,â he answers, his accent thick and heavy. His dark eyes are flat and expressionless. Few men gain my respect, but he has. He is the top man to handle jobs where you want someone out of the way and you want it done right. Though it will cost me a pretty penny to have him here too long.
Not to mention, it will have gained Pavelâs suspicion.
âWhich means that they have either discovered our mole, or they gave him the wrong information,â I say thoughtfully. âDid you have a shot to take them out?â
âI only saw them on the camera after I got there,â Isidor explains. âPavel had questions before I could leave, making me late.â Thereâs no inflection in his voice or change in his expression, but it is clear he did not appreciate this. It cost him the chance to rid us of two problematic bikers.
âDid we ID them?â
âShadow and Viper,â he answers. âEnforcer and Treasurer. The ones who run the security company.â
âAnd you said they found the vault?â I ask coldly.
He nods. âCameras show they overlooked it at first, but then they found the hatch in the floor and opened it. Walked right in.â
âDid they see our people moving our product out?â He gives a curt nod. I donât react, but internally, Iâm seething. If they saw anything, then our people were not careful. A problem I will have to fix. Someone should have been watching.
âHave any other sites been discovered?â
âNot that we know of,â Isidor replies. âIs possible the mole told them.â
If so, my mole is of no more use to me. âFind out,â I order. âHe has less than forty-eight hours to deliver the camera bitch and kill the other one. Letâs ensure he completes his task, and then I will leave him to you to handle.â
Isidor nods, turns on his heel, and walks out.
I ignore the urge to contact my mole, to let him know he fed us incorrect intel, but that could tip my hand. I wouldnât want him to make any rash decisions now, would I? So instead, Iâll wait, and in forty-eight hours, Iâll be blowing that club off the face of the earth.
Then my empire will grow, and Iâll be able to take my rightful seat.
