Throughout that week, it rained nonstop in Birmingham. The city had become even colder due to the late autumn rain.
Bill sat in a run-down little restaurant, dressed in a black leather jacket. He had a bowl of noodles on the greasy table, and the heat and aroma filled the small room.
The woman sitting opposite him was wearing a black baseball cap, which made her out of place. Her attitude was condescending, as if she didnât want to be there. She sat up straight, trying not to touch anything in the room.
The sound of rain on the tin roof of the house distracted her. âI didnât come here to watch you eat noodles,â the woman said as she removed her black mask.
Bill took two sips of soup before pulling a flash drive from his pocket and placing it in front of her. As he watched the woman become nervous, he said, âYou are still wanted in Ireland. So hiding in Birmingham is not safe, either.â
âWhat do you mean?â
Bill wiped his mouth with a napkin and said, âNothing. Turning you in is no good to me because | need your money. | promise to keep everything a secret as long as you keep your word â
The woman wrapped her arms around her chest, and her face was contemptuous. âAre you threatening me?â she snorted.
âNo, Iâve never liked threatening others. So, Iâll do whatever | promise you. And you must promise to pay for the entire operation after it is done.â 475 The Crazy Woman Billâs face was expressionless as he said this, âAnd, | want an extra $50,000 for her.â
The woman laughed, leaning in and approaching him slowly. He was close enough to notice that the foundation on her face couldnât conceal the scars on her face.
She stopped smiling and had a terrifying expression like a spooky ghost. With murderous attempt in her eyes, she asked, âWhat if| change my mind? De you think you can intimidate me with that?â
Seemingly, Bill had predicted her response. He pushed the bowl in front of him aside and locked his gaze on her. Then he put on an expression as fierce as hers.
âYou escaped a bullet in Ireland, so why are you screwing things up again now that youâve arrived in Birmingham? Why do you despise Anna Wright so much? You know youâre doing something risky, but you still want to revenge. Even if you donât want to live any longer, you should care more about Gary. Donât you care about your son at all, Ada Xavier?â he said after a brief pause.
âYou!â
As she stood up, Adaâs big eyes widened. With a sharp clatter, the chair scraped against the white floor tiles, causing Bill to frown.
Bill laughed as Ada became increasingly alarmed and angry.
âHow dare you look into me! You son of a b***h!â Ada shouted. She then smashed the soup bowl on the table to the floor angrily.
With a loud thud, shards flew everywhere.
With composure, Bill laughed softly and attempted to break her down once more. He took a picture from his pocket and showed it to Ada, saying, âI heard you were once a big star, but now youâre a wanted criminal with a disfigured face. You must awful, donât you? Look how beautiful you 475 The Crazy Woman were back then! And take a look at yourself now!â
âAdaâs body continued to tremble, and her clenched fists turned pale with grief. Sheâd had numerous surgeries but still couldnât get her face to look the same as before. She felt like she was back in the fire as soon as she touched the uneven scars on her face.
In the past five years, she frequently woke up in the middle of the night. She was living in the dark as if she were a cockroach.
Sheâd lost her zest for life, and hatred was the only thing keeping her alive, âIt was all her fault! Damn you, Anna Gabriel!â
âAda blamed Anna for everything because her life seemed to be deteriorating ever since Wayne met Anna. In her mind, if it werenât for Anna, she wouldâve had the opportunity to marry Wayne and live a prosperous life. However, in reality, she became a wanted criminal. Therefore, Ada would go insane whenever someone mentioned Anna to her.
Ada laughed as she pounded her fist on the table, âI donât want her to die, | just want her to suffer! I want her life to be worse than mine!â
Her frantic movements did not frighten Bill. He raised his head coldly, meeting Adaâs sinister gaze. Snorting, he said, âIf everything goes well, she could spend the rest of her life in prison. Is that something you want to do?â
He hadnât finished speaking when he felt Adaâs grip on his collar tightened. Ada gritted her teeth and said, âMoney is no longer important to me. Iâll give you the money you want as soon as sheâs arrested.â
She then calmed down. After that, Ada let go of Billâs collar and straightened up while reapplying the mask. âBut if you dare tell anyone Who | am, Joanna will die,â she said as she lowered the brim of her hat.
Billâs face became gloomy after she left. He poured himself a wheat 475 The Crazy Woman tea, sipped it, and then left.
Several minutes later, Bill got in a cab, and closely followed the car in front of him. The car rounded a few corners in the pouring rain before turning onto the main road and slowly approaching the city center.
There was a lot of car parking in the downtown gymnasiumâs underground parking lot. Ada took the elevator from the parking lot to the second floor, and she found that it was crowded. The pleasant sound of violins spread from the surrounding sound to the center. When the music stopped, almost everyone cheered and applauded.
Birmingham teamed up with and another city to put on this big show. Almost all the high schools in town participated in it and put on a total of ten shows. They had been rehearsing for two months for this day.
Tammy, dressed in a navy blue gown, had just stepped back from the center of the stage. A woman in black leaped out of the side door on the west side of the auditorium and bent over to sit quietly in the far comer.
âThis is a violin concerto performed by Birmingham High Schoolâs junior class.â
âAdaâs eyes shone with a sinister light as the announcerâs voice rang out. She gave a wicked grin.
Meanwhile, Bill, who was at the door, turned back impatiently as he noticed that Ada had left.
âAda took the stairs down to the underground garage. Her steps down the stairs were lighter because she was so happy to see Tammy was there.
The sound of her softly humming song echoed throughout the underground garage. Her fingers traced the cars until she stopped in front of a yellow school bus. She smiled wickedly as she stared at the words 4T5 The Crazy Woman âBirmingham High Schoolâ on the bus. With her heart filled with joy and excitement, she pulled a hobby knife from her bag, the sharp blade glinting oddly in the light.
A few moments later, Ada went underneath the car and then crawled out. She almost laughed out loud as she raised the knife in her hand. All of a sudden, she heard footsteps following her. Having turned around, Ada was surprised to see Bill.
âDo you really want everyone in this one car to die just to get back at Anna?â Bill asked. With his hands in his leather jacket pockets, he appeared unconcerned and didnât appear to be taking this seriously.
âWhy are you following me?â Ada asked, putting down the knife in her hand.
When Bill grabbed her arm, she was about to walk around him. He asked, â| promised to help you. So, why are you still doing this?â
She laughed strangely and said before leaving, âI want her to feel the pain as well! Youâd better mind your own business and stay out of it!â
Listening to the sound of the loud engine and brakes in the quiet underground garage, Bill hesitated in front of the yellow bus.
After a moment, he thought of Joannaâs beautiful face and what she said to him when she snuggled up to his shoulder, âIâd prefer you to be a good person.â
