Jiang Zhendong and Wang Min left dejectedly after they ate.
Their mood was dampened after Ye Hao refused to entertain their request and they were extremely upset as they made their way home.
âWhat do you think we should do? Ye Hao is truly a tough nut to crack. Didnât you see his expression earlier? He treated us so coldly and looked at us so icily that it was clear he looked down on us. I canât believe he even mentioned wanting to have a live-in son-in-law. Iâm so angry!â she said angrily.
She had barely held in her temper earlier at the Ye family and if it werenât for the fact that she wanted to be in-laws with the Ye family, she would have blown up at Ye Hao earlier.
Jiang Zhentaoâs face was pale and his eyes blazed with anger.
âYe Hao is making things difficult for us,â he declared.
âExactlyâ¦â Wang Min said as she slammed a fist against the car window. âIt was clear from his tone that he meant to do exactly that. He knew that Jiang Cheng was our only child, so how could he expect him to be a live-in son-in-law?â
She was so annoyed that her angry flush spread all the way down to her neck.
They had tried their best to flatter Xi XIâs parents, but they were coldly snubbed.
She felt upset at that thought.
âAlrightâ¦â Jiang Zhentao said calmly as he handed his wife a bottle of water. âDrink this and try to calm down. Letâs discuss further after Ah Cheng is back. Xi Xiâs father might be taking such a hardline stance against us, but this doesnât mean that this is Xi Xiâs intention as well. We donât have to worry too much if Xi Xi truly loves our son. Moreover, they even have a child between the two of them now.â
Wang Min said, âI hope thatâs the case. Letâs try to hold our anger first. Perhaps Xi Xiâs parents had said this in a fit of anger. They canât possibly blame our son for their daughterâs pregnancy. After all, it takes two hands to clap.â
ââ
Ye family.
Ye Hao and He Xiyan sat side by side on the sofa and they looked equally upset.
He Xiyan heaved a long sigh and she felt annoyed at the thought of her daughterâs predicament.
She wouldnât have minded if Jiang Cheng was a reliable man who was sincere about her daughter but she couldnât see through to Jiang Chengâs true intentions and Ye Hao wasnât satisfied with Jiang Cheng as a son-in-law.
âWere you serious when you said that you wanted to get a live-in son-in-law for Xi Xi?â she asked as she turned to look at her husband.
They had never discussed this matter.
Ye Hao grunted in acknowledgment. This was something that he had indeed been considering.
âBut we have Mo Mo,â He Xiyan said. Normally, those who would look for live-in sons-in-law were families who didnât have a biological son or who only had daughters. She didnât see the need to do so, because they had both a daughter and a son.
Ye Hao gave his wife a pat on the shoulder.
âYan Yan, Iâve given this matter some thought recently. Iâm just as worried that our daughter will be taken advantage of if she marries into another family. Moreover, Iâm thinking of grooming our daughter to take over the Ye Group in the future.â
He Xiyan turned to her husband and looked a little puzzled as she asked, âAre you sure?â
Ye Hao nodded and replied, âYes, Mo Mo is still too young. I donât want Xi Xi to be taken advantage of if she were to marry into another family.â
He Xiyan was more concerned about her daughterâs happiness and this took precedence over everything else.
âWe have to seek Xi Xiâs opinion on this,â she said.
They couldnât decide on their daughterâs behalf and she wouldnât force her daughter to do something against her will.
Ye Hao said, âIâll speak to Xi Xi on this.â
