Three days later.
Early in the morning, He Xiyan had breakfast with her children before she sent them to school.
Yuan Yuan and Xi Xi noticed that their mother seemed unhappy. Their mother, who always had a smile on her face, had a grave expression for the past few days and would often stare blankly into space.
âMom, whatâs wrong?â Yuan Yuan asked. He thought that his mother appeareda little sickly.
He Xiyan turned to look at her son and pasted a smile on her face.
âIâm fine, Yuan Yuanâ¦â she responded.
Although she kept telling herself not to worry, she couldnât help but feel worried and afraid.
She felt like those youths who had discovered acute symptoms after participating in high-risk activities but who still had to wait for their diagnosis because the incubation period was not over. Anyone would be terrified when faced with the possibility of being sick.
âMom, did Xi Xiâs dad bully you? Is that why youâre so upset?â Yuan Yuan asked with a frown as he suddenly remembered that his mother seemed upset the day after Xi Xiâs fatherâs visit. She wasnât even interested in eating.
Xi Xi pouted at her brotherâs words and glared at him.
âMy dad would never bully mom,â she said huffily. She hated how her brother had accused her dad of doing so.
Yuan Yuan said, âYour dad has always been a bad guy. He would hit momâ¦â
Xi Xi retorted angrily, âYour dad is the one who is bad. He is a terrible man.â
They started arguing again, each unable to stand the otherâs dad.
He Xiyan said in exasperation, âAlright, thatâs enough.â
She glanced at Yuan Yuan before she said, âMy stomach has been hurting the past few days and that is why Iâm upset. This has nothing to do with Xi Xiâs father.â
He Xian knew that Ye Hao had left a terrible impression on Yuan Yuan. When she asked Yuan Yuan why he hated Ye Hao, he told her that it was because Ye Hao had hit her. This incident had taken place several years ago when he wasnât even two years old. She was surprised to see that his memory was so good and that he had remembered that incident.
âMom, you should go to the hospital for a check-up after you drop us off at school and get the doctor to write you a prescription,â Yuan Yuan said as he looked at his mother in concern.
He had become more sensible as he grew older and he didnât want his dad or his mom to be sick because he was worried theyâd end up like his grandmother.
âYes, Yuan Yuan, Iâll go to the hospital,â He Xiyan said with a smile and she suddenly felt comforted by Yuan Yuanâs words.
Soon, they arrived in front of the school.
After she gave her children a pep talk, she carried her children off the car and watched as they carried their tiny backpacks and walked toward the school.
Then, she turned, walked back to her car, and prepared to drive back to the castle.
However, a fair hand suddenly tapped against her car window just as she started the engine.
She froze in surprise and turned to see a tall and slender woman standing in front of her car.
She could only see half of the womanâs body from where she was sitting and didnât see the womanâs face.
âWho are you?â she asked loudly.
Why would this woman dash out from nowhere in broad daylight? Was she trying to scare her?
The woman bent down and He Xiyan found that she recognized this woman.
âLin Ziya?â she said with a frown and surprised flitted past her eyes.
What was this woman doing here and what did she want?
Just as these thoughts were running through her head, Lin Ziya finally said, âHe Xiyan, Iâd like to have a word with you. Could you get out of the car?â
